The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had embarked on a two-week warning strike to press home several long-standing demands from the Federal Government, including issues related to funding, payment of withheld salaries, revitalisation of public universities, and renegotiation of the 2009 FGN–ASUU agreement.
However, following a series of constructive engagements between ASUU representatives and the Federal Government, the union announced on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, that it had resolved to suspend the strike as a sign of goodwill and respect for the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians, parents, students, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
