Guidelines for Candidates Not Yet Admitted

Applicants who do not find their names on this second list should not panic. The management confirmed that further admission lists may still be released, depending on available spaces within specific departments.

Candidates are encouraged to:

  • Keep checking both the university’s website and the JAMB CAPS portal regularly.

UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT (UNIPORT) POSTPONES RESUMPTIONS DATE FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

The Management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has officially announced a change in the resumption date for the 2025/2026 academic session, shifting the previously scheduled date of Monday, November 3, 2025, to a new date — Monday, November 17, 2025.

This decision was communicated through an official statement released after the Committee of Provosts and Deans held a crucial meeting on Friday, October 31, 2025. The management explained that the adjustment became necessary to allow the university to conclude its ongoing admission process smoothly and ensure that both old and new students enjoy a seamless start to the academic year.

Reason for the Postponement

According to the University’s management, the decision was not taken lightly. The Committee of Provosts and Deans carefully reviewed the status of ongoing admissions, departmental clearances, and other administrative preparations needed for the proper commencement of the new session.

After much deliberation, it was concluded that a two-week extension would allow adequate time for all faculties and departments to finalise admission lists, verify candidates’ documents, and ensure that every new student is properly captured in the system before lectures begin.

The management emphasized that this short delay will prevent confusion and ensure better coordination among academic and non-academic staff once the session officially begins.

New Resumption Date and What It Means for Students

The new resumption date is now set for Monday, November 17, 2025.

All students — both returning and newly admitted — are expected to take note of this adjustment and plan accordingly. By this date, lectures, registration, and other academic activities for the 2025/2026 session will officially commence across all faculties and departments.

Students who had already made travel or accommodation arrangements based on the earlier date are encouraged to adjust their plans to align with the updated schedule.

Impact on Admission and Registration

The University of Port Harcourt is currently rounding off its Post-UTME and Direct Entry admission processes for the 2025/2026 session. The extension will give the admissions office and relevant departments additional time to complete the verification and processing of applicants’ documents.

Management noted that this measure is meant to avoid the overlap between admission procedures and academic resumption, which could cause unnecessary administrative challenges. The goal, according to the University, is to ensure that all admitted students are properly cleared, assigned matriculation numbers, and fully integrated into the school’s learning structure before classes begin.

Prospective students are therefore advised to check the university’s official website and admission portal regularly for updates regarding admission lists, clearance schedules, and registration procedures.

Message to Students, Parents, and Staff

The University’s management expressed sincere regret for any inconvenience that the postponement might cause to students, parents, and guardians. However, it assured everyone that the decision was made in the best interest of the entire University community.

In the official release, the management thanked all stakeholders for their patience and understanding, adding that such proactive adjustments are sometimes necessary to maintain the institution’s high standards of academic excellence and effective service delivery.

They also appealed to students to use the two-week period wisely — either to finalise their accommodation arrangements, complete pending documentation, or prepare adequately for the upcoming session.

Commitment to Academic Excellence

UNIPORT remains one of Nigeria’s leading federal universities, known for its strong academic reputation, diverse programmes, and vibrant campus life. The institution’s decision to delay resumption, the management explained, is in line with its long-standing commitment to academic excellence, proper planning, and quality service delivery.

The University emphasized that it would rather delay the start of the session slightly than rush into resumption without adequate preparation, which could disrupt the smooth running of academic activities later in the term.

According to the statement, “The University of Port Harcourt prides itself on maintaining a structured academic calendar, and as such, every decision taken by management is aimed at ensuring that both staff and students operate in an environment conducive to teaching, learning, and research.”

Advice for Students Before Resumption

In view of the postponement, the University advised all students — especially freshers — to take advantage of the additional two weeks to prepare themselves mentally, financially, and academically. Below are a few useful recommendations:

  1. Complete Registration Early: Returning students should ensure all outstanding registration or school fee payments are settled before November 17 to avoid late registration penalties.

  2. Accommodation Planning: Students staying off-campus should confirm their housing arrangements and make necessary payments early to avoid last-minute rushes.

  3. Course Preparation: Students are encouraged to review their previous session’s notes, read ahead for new courses, and prepare materials needed for lectures.

  4. Health and Safety: The University also reminded all students to prioritise their health and adhere to campus safety regulations upon return.

  5. Stay Updated: Students should keep checking the school’s official communication channels — including the UNIPORT website, social media handles, and faculty notice boards — for any further updates before resumption.

Appreciation and Assurance from Management

In closing, the University of Port Harcourt’s management once again appreciated the cooperation of students, parents, and staff during this period. The University reassured everyone that all arrangements for the smooth takeoff of the 2025/2026 academic session are in full gear.

It reaffirmed that the two-week postponement would not affect the integrity of the academic calendar, as steps are already being taken to ensure that the lost days will be effectively recovered through a well-structured timetable and efficient course scheduling.

The management’s message read in part:

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by this adjustment and wish to assure the public that the decision was taken after careful consideration of the current academic realities. The University remains fully committed to providing an enabling environment for teaching, learning, and research in line with global standards.”

Conclusion

In summary, the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has postponed the resumption of academic activities for the 2025/2026 session to Monday, November 17, 2025. The decision was made to allow for the completion of admissions, adequate preparation, and smooth commencement of academic activities.

While the announcement may cause slight inconveniences to some students and parents, the University’s proactive approach shows its dedication to maintaining order, structure, and academic quality.

Students are encouraged to remain calm, stay informed, and prepare adequately for a productive and successful academic session ahead.

The Management of Wellspring University, Benin City, Edo State, is delighted to announce the commencement of admission into its Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme for the 2025/2026 academic session. The university invites suitably qualified candidates to apply and take advantage of this direct entry pathway into its wide range of degree programmes.

This announcement signals another academic milestone for Wellspring University — a centre known for its commitment to excellence, moral integrity, and holistic education. Through its JUPEB programme, the institution offers an alternative to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) route, enabling candidates to gain direct admission into 200-level of any participating university upon successful completion.

🧾 What Is JUPEB and Why It Matters

The Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) is an advanced-level academic programme established and coordinated by a consortium of Nigerian universities. It is approved by the Federal Ministry of Education and recognised by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

JUPEB serves as a Direct Entry qualification for admission into Nigerian and some foreign universities. Successful candidates who complete the one-year academic programme are awarded a JUPEB certificate, which enables them to proceed directly into 200-level undergraduate programmes in their chosen disciplines — without sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Wellspring University’s JUPEB centre has earned a reputation for its academic discipline, experienced lecturers, and excellent results over the years. The university provides a strong foundation for students aspiring to excel in fields such as Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Management, and Engineering.

🏛️ Why Choose Wellspring University JUPEB Programme

There are several reasons why Wellspring University remains a preferred choice for JUPEB candidates across Nigeria:

  1. Direct Admission into 200 Level:

  4. Moral and Academic Mentorship:
The institution is founded on strong ethical values and offers character development programmes to guide students beyond academics.

  5. Proven Track Record:
Over the years, Wellspring JUPEB graduates have consistently secured admission into competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, Engineering, Computer Science, Accounting, and International Relations.

📚 Programme Duration and Structure

The Wellspring University JUPEB programme runs for one academic session (approximately 9 to 12 months). During this period, students receive intensive lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in three JUPEB-approved subjects relevant to their intended degree courses.

Each student is expected to register for subjects that align with their proposed university course — for instance:

  • Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics

  • Management/Social Sciences: Economics, Government, Business Studies, or Accounting

  • Arts: Literature-in-English, Christian Religious Studies, Government, or History

At the end of the programme, students will sit for the JUPEB National Examination, which is moderated by the board and accepted by over 70 universities nationwide.

Eligibility and Entry Requirements

Prospective candidates for the 2025/2026 JUPEB programme at Wellspring University must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects at the O’Level (WAEC, NECO, or GCE), including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

  • Candidates awaiting O’Level results may also apply, provided that their results will be available before completion of the JUPEB session.

  • Applicants are expected to choose subject combinations that correspond with their desired university courses.

This landmark achievement marks another major step in the university’s steady growth and commitment to providing quality higher education that meets both national and international standards.

🏛️ The Newly Approved Programmes

According to the official announcement, the new degree programmes approved by the NUC include:

  1. MBBS – Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Medicine & Surgery)

  2. LL.B – Bachelor of Laws (Law)

These additions bring new opportunities for students who aspire to build professional careers in medicine, law, and pharmacy. With these approvals, Amadeus University joins the list of universities in Nigeria authorized to train future doctors, pharmacists, and lawyers under NUC’s academic and professional supervision.

🧾 NUC’s Approval Process

In a statement released by the Vice-Chancellor of Amadeus University, Prof. Samuel M. Nzotta, the NUC approval came after a thorough and comprehensive resource verification exercise.

During the evaluation, the NUC team inspected the university’s human and material resources, including teaching facilities, laboratories, libraries, clinical training equipment, and faculty qualifications. The commission concluded that the university had met all the required academic and infrastructural standards needed to run the newly proposed programmes effectively.

Prof. Nzotta expressed deep appreciation to the NUC for its confidence in the university’s capacity to maintain high academic standards. He also commended the Governing Council, the management team, and the staff for their dedication and hard work in achieving this milestone.

“The NUC’s approval is a strong validation of our vision to raise a new generation of professionals who are not only academically competent but also morally upright and globally relevant,”
— Prof. Samuel M. Nzotta, Vice-Chancellor, Amadeus University.

New Ekiti varsity seeks two-week admission extension from JAMB

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, has appealed to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board to give the institution two weeks’ extension for it to handle admission requests in the new institution.

Aribisala said that the university could only process the admission for 1,200 candidates, whereas it had a quota of 1,500 candidates.

The VC, in a chat with journalists at Iyin Ekiti on Friday, spoke against the backdrop of JAMB’s decision to close the admission portal for all public institutions by midnight on Friday, November 31, thus shutting the door of admission for the session.

Aribisala said that FUTESI was under some kind of pressure from qualified admission seekers still flocking to the new institution.

He said, “That is why we are kind of being under some tension.
Because after closing the portal by midnight today (Friday), there are still thousands of candidates who are interested. In fact, you can see some of them hanging since morning here. It is all because of admission.

“I am pleading with the JAMB authority to please, because we are just coming, we are a new university, we were just enlisted on the caps. JAMB should please give us maybe two weeks additional in the month of November so that we can also take more students to start with us.

“We have a quota of 1,500 candidates, we have about 1,200 candidates now. So if we have two weeks more, we will be able to still accommodate some of the admission seekers crashing on us”.

The VC expressed hope that academic activities would begin hopefully in December, “because some of our facilities are getting ready”.

He said that President Bola Tinubu had “graciously approved that we do recruitment of staff, both teaching and non-teaching. And by the special grace of God, the advertisement will be out by next week and it is going to run for about six weeks.

“After that, we are going to do the recruitment. And then we can have the full complement of both staff. And then the university can start to run,” the VC said.

PUNCH Online reported in August that JAMB ordered Nigerian public universities to finalise their 2025 admission processes by October 31, 2025.

According to a schedule contained in the board’s weekly bulletin, all private universities are also required to complete admissions by November 30, 2025.

The admission board said the decision aimed to stabilise the academic calendar and ensure equitable access to admission slots across all tertiary institutions.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu, on February 20, 2025, assented to two separate bills establishing FUTES, Iyin Ekiti, and Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, Osun State.

Tinubu, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said that “the specialised institutions will address the educational needs of the populace while driving research and innovation and contributing to the country’s overall economic growth and development.

He said, “The institutions will serve as training grounds for developing agriculture, science, and technology professionals and enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global economy.
