2020 UTME: Candidates Must Acquire NIN Before Registration – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has advised candidates who wish to take part in the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to register with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to enable them obtain the National Identification Number (NIN).
According to JAMB, the NIN would be compulsory for UTME registration next year and only candidates with NIN would be allowed to sit for the examination next year.
2020 UTME Candidates can start preparing for their exams using already existing JAMB CBT softwares and JAMB CBT apps

In view of this, all candidates desiring to register for the 2020 UTME, other JAMB processes, are urged to visit the nearest NIMC centre or its licensed agents for the NIN registration ahead of the UTME registration, if they have not done so as the board has made arrangements with NIMC for candidates who do not have the NIN to be registered at the centre by NIMC or its licensed agents.

The board also has disclosed that it would no longer need to capture the biometrics of candidates during UTME registration next year as the information of candidates required by the board would be uploaded from the data captured by the NIMC for registration.

Commenting on this, the JAMB’s Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, explained that the NIN would guard against all forms of registration infractions.

He mentioned that candidates would be required to present their NIN at the point of registration.

He also advised candidates who had registered and acquired the NIN before attaining the age of 16 to update their NIN registration status before proceeding for the UTME registration.

“If a candidate has NIN but has misplaced the number, he/she can retrieve the NIN by either going to any NIMC office/its licensed agents or dialing *346# (USSD Code) on the SIM number earlier used to register for the NIN and the NIN would be sent to the candidate.

“If he/she does not have the SIM number used for the NIN registration, such a candidate should visit the nearest NIMC centre or any of its licensed agents.

“Candidate’s name, as arranged on the NIMC data base, would be same on JAMB data after registration.

“If any candidate has complaints of name arrangement such a candidate should first rectify such issue with NIMC before proceeding for registration,” he added.

JAMB CAPS For 2019/2020 Admission Exercise: How To Check Admission Status

The JAMB CAPS for the 2019/2020 admission exercise is now active. Candidates can now monitor their admission status and easily know when they have been offered an admission. Once a candidate has been offered admission on JAMB CAPS, such candidate is required to do either of two things; to accept the admission or to reject it.

Schools have already started uploading their Admission Lists on JAMB Portal. We therefore advise candidates to closely monitor their admission status on JAMB CAPS so as to do the needful as soon as possible.

Some schools may not publish list of admitted candidates on their own portal or notice board. So for candidates that applied for admission in such schools, the only way to know when they have been offered admission is to check their admission status on JAMB CAPS.

How To Check Admission Status on JAMB CAPS

Visit: http://www.jamb.org.ng/efacility/ and login with your registered email address and password to access your dashboard
After Successful login, locate the “Admission Tab” on the left hand side on the page, Click on it to reveal the drop down menu which contains the “Check Admission Status Button”
Click on the Check Admission Status Button under the Admission Tab button.
Select your Examination Year from the Drop-Down and provide your JAMB Registration Number in the column required
Click on the “Check Admission Status Button” and wait for your admission status to be displayed.
If you have been admitted you will get a response with your Photo Image being displayed and a text Congratulating you on your admission offer, But if you are not offered any admission yet you will get a text response with “Sorry No Admission has been Given Yet”
If you have been offered admission, you can proceed to ACCEPT OR REJECT ADMISSION
Successfully admitted candidates are advised to ensure that they indicate the acceptance or rejection of admission online and timely to enable the processing of their admission.

It is important to note also that candidates who have been offered admission are to print their admission letter after accepting the admission, as they will likely need this during clearance and registration in the school that they have been admitted.

Note: If you are using a phone, you may not see the option to check Admission Status on CAPS, Most phone users may only see the welcome message. You are to use the desktop mode to view the complete page. This is why the chrome browser is recommended if you are using a phone. All you need to do is go to Chrome option and choose request desktop site for the complete page to display.

LASU INTRODUCES ONLINE PAYMENTS FOR ALL INCOME

The authorities of Lagos State University (LASU) has introduced online payment for all of the institution’s income. This move becomes imperative, because the Bursary has continued to be inundated with Students, Clients and the general public, coming to the Tax Management and Revenue (TMR) Unit to seek issuance of the receipts, despite the instruction about online payments.

This is coming on the heels of the Bursar’s directive to the TMR Unit to stop the issuance of Admon University official Receipt as a result of the detection of its fake version in Circulation.

This new mode of payment will be of immense benefits to the University, the students and all clients, including the general public as a whole, as the new form of receipts can be verified online anywhere as well as anytime.

Finally, more importantly, this new mode of payment gives anybody the opportunity to verify the genuiness or other wise of a receipt, before such is cleared for a service
