LASU RANKS AMONG FIRST 600 UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD
Vice Chancellor challenges members of staff on use of technology to acquire knowledge
The latest Times Higher Education Impact Ranking for 2020 has been released and the Lagos State University has been ranked among the first 600 Universities globally.
The Times Higher Education Ranking is the most recognised globally and ranks Universities around the world on factors such as Research, Outreach, Teaching, amongst others.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, expressed satisfaction at the University’s performance in the global ranking but added that there was still much to be done.
“Participating in that ranking is to put ourselves on our toes, to know where we need to improve. This is not the best we can do, but it’s a good start.
We must be targeting to be in the first 200 band by the time the next ranking will be done”, he enthused. He praised the Director, Directorate of Research Management and Innovation, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya and his team for putting together the submission that earned LASU the ranking.
In another development, the Vice Chancellor has challenged members of Staff of the University to embrace the use of technology to deepen knowledge acquisition.
He stated this in a virtual meeting with members of the extended management on Thursday, 23rd April, 2020 where he announced the University’s plan to hold regular online Trainings for all members of Staff.
“There is need for us to constantly deepen our competencies. Covid-19 has changed the face of knowledge acquisition. You can’t be complacent with being knowledgeable in one field. The world today is such that you must be able to acquire knowledge in as many fields as possible.
We will be holding virtual training sessions for ourselves, accessible to both academic and non-academic members of staff”, he said.
He also directed Deans of faculties to come up with weekly training sessions for all members of staff in their faculties to ” deepen knowledge and share information of value”.
The first Virtual Training for members of Staff will hold on Monday, 27th April, 2020.

NYSC assure members on receiving March and April allowances
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has assured that it will pay the allowances for March and April
Director-General, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, who spoke through the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, also urged Corps members to remain calm and safe.
“As we earnestly look up to the Almighty God for help, management wishes to reassure all corps members once more that allowances for the months of March and April shall be paid to everyone, without recourse to the monthly clearance exercise.
You are all enjoined to stay calm, stay safe, observe safety precautions given from time to time by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and always stay tuned to our traditional and new media platforms,” he said.
He also urged them to recommit themselves to the ideals of the scheme even as they put the country’s interest at the frontline.
This he said, includes; rendering selfless service to Nigeria and humanity; personal development and emancipation from the clutches of tribalism and corruption—the twin vices that we must defeat.

Universities That Do Not Write Exam During Post UTME Screening
It is true that many universities use aptitude tests/exams to screen candidates during Post-UTME but there are schools that do not use aptitude tests. Some universities will just screen your credentials and then offer admission to candidates that have met their requirements.
The credentials screened are usually, O’level results, JAMB Original Result, Birth Certificate etc. The universities usually state the credentials or documents you are required to provide.
These universities may require that you bring the credentials to the school for the screening or simply upload them online via the school portal and then wait for the outcome of the screening.
We understand that some candidates are afraid to choose schools that use aptitude tests or exams as their Post-UTME screening method. Maybe because they do not want to go through the stress of another exam after going through the one the JAMB exam or because they believe they stand a better chang of gaining admission if only their O’level and other documents are screened.
Whatever is the reason, we have provided a list of universities that do not require candidates to go through aptitude tests/exams during Post-UTME screening. You can check the list below and consider any of them.
Universities That Do Not Write Exam During Post-UTME
1.Ambrose Alli University (AAU)
2.Ekiti State University (EKSU) and Affiliates e.g EKSU Ila Campus
3.Osun State University, Osogbo (UNIOSUN)
4.Lagos State University (LASU) and Affiliates e.g LASU Ilesa Campus
5.University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID)
6.Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU)
7.Kwara State University (KWASU)
8.Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE)
9.Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko Ondo State (AAUA)
9.Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OSUSTECH)
10.University of Jos (UNIJOS)
The list will be updated as time goes on. We will inform you once there is any update or when more schools have been added.

JAMB releases 2019 provisional admission list
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, has published the 2019 provisional matriculation list of admitted candidates on the official website of the board.
The board disclosed this in its weekly bulletin made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.
The board also advised candidates who were yet to accept their offers of admission on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to do so or risk forfeiting the admission.
According to the board, the list of fully-admitted candidates in all the tertiary institutions in the country is hereby published on the JAMB Website.
“For ease of checking, candidates can visit: www.jamb.org.gov., proceed to menu titled ‘STUDENTS+’, select the sub menu ‘CHECK MATRICULATION LIST 2019’ option and search for their names by entering their 10-digit JAMB Registration Number.
“There is a large number of candidates who have been offered Provisional Admission but are yet to accept the admission.
“A list containing their names is also on display on the board’s website and such candidates are to immediately accept such offers by using the CAPS Mobile App downloaded from the Google Play Store.
“With the App successfully installed and accessed on their devices, candidates do not need to visit any CBT centre or cybercafe as doing so would be a violation of the work-from-home/stay-at home order in place in most parts of the country.”
JAMB, however, said that candidates should note that failure to accept such offers of admission on the CAPS platform would result in the forfeiture of such admissions.
“Candidates are also to note that acceptance of admission on any website other than CAPS is not a valid acceptance as any admission not processed and accepted through CAPS is not known to JAMB.
“Alternatively, affected candidates who are not sure of their 2019 admission status can check for such from their phones by sending “STATUS 2019” to 55019.
“However, in the event of any challenges, candidates are to lodge their complaints immediately by using the online ticketing platform at support.jamb.gov.ng under 2019 Admission List Issue.
“Candidates are to note that only those who had accepted their offers of admissions on CAPS and whose names appear on the Provisional Matriculation List are recognised as bonafide students of the various institutions.
By implication, if a candidate’s name is not on this published list which will be sent to all tertiary institutions, NYSC and other stakeholders, his/her application for mobilisation in the NYSC scheme, employment, among others, would be declined,” the board said.
