The Management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) has officially released the approved schedule of fees for the 2025/2026 academic session. The announcement provides a detailed breakdown of all charges applicable to students across various categories — including fresh students, returning students, and Direct Entry (DE) candidates in different faculties and departments.
This update is part of the university’s ongoing commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in its financial operations while ensuring that students have a clear understanding of the payment structure required for the new session.
Overview of the Approved Fees
According to the management, all categories of students are required to pay a base tuition fee of ₦22,500, in addition to several mandatory institutional charges. These include:
-
MIS Development Charge: ₦5,000
-
Portal Charge: ₦5,000
-
Online Examination Fee: ₦5,000
-
Faculty Charge: ₦1,500
-
Other departmental and administrative levies as applicable
These charges are designed to support ongoing digital transformation initiatives, improve online learning platforms, and maintain essential academic and administrative services that enhance students’ overall university experience.
Special and Department-Based Fees
While the general fees apply to all students, certain departments and programmes have specific additional charges reflecting their unique academic and technical requirements. The management released the following details:
-
E-Learning Service Charge: Ranges between ₦5,000 and ₦12,000, depending on the student’s level and the intensity of digital resources required.
-
Departmental Registration Charges:
-
MBBS (Medicine and Surgery): ₦75,000
-
Anatomy and Physiology: ₦30,000
-
College of Health Sciences (All Departments): ₦60,000
-
Other Departments: ₦8,000
-
These additional fees, the university explained, cater to the high cost of laboratory consumables, practical sessions, and other professional training facilities that are essential to programmes in the health and science disciplines.
Other Important Levies and Student Obligations
In addition to tuition and departmental charges, several other one-time and sessional payments have been outlined for specific student categories:
-
Convocation Fee: ₦3,000 — applicable to all final-year and spillover students.
-
Medical Test Fee: ₦7,500 — mandatory for 100-level and Direct Entry (DE) students upon resumption.
-
Matriculation Fee: ₦25,000 — compulsory for all newly admitted students.
-
Turn-it-in Fee: ₦2,000 — required for final-year students submitting research projects and dissertations.
The university emphasized that these charges are part of the institution’s effort to maintain high academic standards and ensure compliance with quality assurance benchmarks across all departments.
Commitment to Digital and Academic Development
Over the years, FULAFIA has invested heavily in digital learning infrastructure and ICT-driven educational systems. The introduction of charges such as the MIS Development Fee and the E-Learning Service Charge reflects the university’s continued effort to expand its digital capabilities and ensure seamless academic operations both online and on campus.
The Online Examination Fee, for instance, supports the maintenance of secure e-assessment platforms — an approach that not only enhances integrity in examination processes but also prepares students for digital literacy in the modern workforce.
Guidelines for Payment and Compliance
All payments must be made through the official university student portal at:
The management warned that students should avoid making payments through unverified channels or third parties, as doing so may lead to complications that the university will not be responsible for.
After completing payment, students are expected to print their payment receipts and ensure that all records are updated on the portal to avoid issues during course registration, examinations, or clearance processes.
In addition, faculty, departmental, and association dues are to be paid strictly through the university’s authorized payment system. This approach ensures accountability and makes it easier for both the administration and student bodies to track financial transactions transparently.
Advice to Students
The university management strongly advised students to make their payments early to avoid late registration penalties or restrictions from attending lectures and examinations.
It also urged both new and returning students to carefully review the fee breakdown relevant to their departments before proceeding with payment to avoid errors that could delay their clearance or academic progress.
Students who may be facing financial constraints are encouraged to communicate promptly with their departments or the Bursary Department for guidance on possible instalment arrangements or scholarship opportunities where applicable.
Support for New Students
For newly admitted students, payment of fees is one of the major steps toward completing registration and becoming a bona fide member of the university community. After payment, fresh students are expected to proceed with screening, medical tests, course registration, and hostel allocation as directed by the school’s Admission Office.
The Matriculation Ceremony, which officially marks the beginning of their academic journey, will be held after all screening and registration processes are completed. The ₦25,000 matriculation fee covers the academic gown, logistics, and event organization.
University’s Emphasis on Financial Discipline
According to the statement released by the Bursar’s Office, the new fee structure is a product of extensive consultation between the university’s management, faculty representatives, and student bodies. The goal is to strike a balance between affordability and the need for quality service delivery in areas such as teaching, infrastructure, and research development.
The management reaffirmed that all funds collected are utilized responsibly to support essential university projects — including laboratory upgrades, ICT services, maintenance of hostels and classrooms, and improved student welfare programmes.
FULAFIA continues to uphold the values of transparency, accountability, and service excellence, ensuring that every naira spent contributes meaningfully to the growth of the institution and the academic success of its students.
Encouragement to Stakeholders
The Vice-Chancellor, in the statement, appealed to parents, guardians, and sponsors to continue supporting their wards by making timely payments and encouraging them to stay focused on their studies. He also expressed appreciation to staff and students for their cooperation and resilience as the university strives to deliver world-class education.
The management reiterated that the approved fees are not arbitrary but are aligned with the university’s financial realities, operational costs, and the need to maintain a conducive learning environment.
Final Reminder
All students are reminded to verify their payments and keep copies of their transaction receipts. Any issues encountered during payment should be reported immediately through the official Student Hub support system on the university portal.
Failure to complete all financial obligations within the stipulated period may result in denial of access to the portal, exclusion from examinations, or suspension of academic privileges.
The Federal University of Lafia remains steadfast in its mission to provide affordable, high-quality education and to produce graduates who can compete globally. The release of this 2025/2026 fee schedule marks another step toward strengthening administrative transparency and enhancing the student experience.
