A member of the House of Representatives, Zakariya Dauda Nyampa, has advocated for fresh graduates to be enlisted into the army.
Nyampa who represents representing Michika/Madagali constituency of Adamawa state, said the military service should replace the mandatory one-year National Youth Services Corps (NYSC).
The lawmaker made the suggestion at a virtual meeting organised by a non-governmental organisation,Campusinfo reported.
He said graduates who do not have the interest to serve as military personnel should be allowed to venture into other endeavours after the mandatory one-year training and service in the Nigerian army.
Meanwhile, the lives were saved and some herds of cattle recovered in Kaduna on Sunday, June 21, as the operatives of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) thwarted an attack by armed bandits along the Kwauya-Tsamiya village.
This was revealed in a statement released on Monday, June 22, by Major General John Enenche who is the coordinator of defence media operations at the Defence Headquarters.
Campusinfo gathers that the attack was repelled by the personnel of the 404 Force Protection Group (404 FPG) NAF Base Kaduna
Enenche explained that the bandits had raided the Fulani settlements and seized some herds of cattle at gun point.

In another report, a security expert and public affairs commentator, Terrence Kuanum, has attributed the incessant cases of violence and bandit attacks in parts of northern Nigeria to the activities of failed politicians
Kuanum said these politicians are only focused on painting the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in a bad light.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Sunday, June 21, Kuanum said information available to him indicates that most of the cases of violence and banditry in northern Nigeria are politically motivated.
He said these criminal activities are sponsored by those who contested and lost against the ruling party in recent elections

NANS to hold election of new executives Aug. 20
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) will hold its 2020 Election/National Convention at Abuja in August 20 – 22nd in a bid to elect new executives to pilot the affairs of the association for another one year.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the stakeholders meeting held in Abuja and sent to CAMPUSINFO.
The communique was signed by Mr Samuel Kappo, NANS Zone D, Coordinator Mohammed Kachinga, Zone A Coordinator, Friday Offongekpe, Zone B coordinator and Mahmud Abubakar, President, National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES).
According to the communique, the election is a “Doctrine of Necessity” as Mr Bamidele Akpan’s tenure has long elapsed and there is need to transit power to new executives.
“The constitution of NANS stipulates one year for every office holder but Bamidele Akpan shall be two years in office by July 9, without any plan to set transition in motion.
“Recall on June 9, as captured by NAN, the Council of Zonal Coordinators issued a 14 days ultimatum to Bamidele Akpan, the NANS President to fix a date for NANS Election/Convention, which yielded no fruit afterwards.
“On that basis, the stakeholders in effort to saving the constitutional tenure of office holders in the organisation all resolved for Aug. 20, for an election in Abuja to usher in new executives to pilot the affairs of the organisation through 2020/2021 session.’’
Mr Mohammed Eneji the immediate Past President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students(NAPS) was appointed the Chairman of the Convention Planning/Teansition Committee while Lucky Emonefe Secretary.
The transition committee also comprises of 14 other members who cut across the six geopolitical zones with the inclusion of student Union Presidents and NANS state Chairmen as members.
The communique, therefore, charged the committee with the responsibility to work with security agencies and other relevant bodies to conduct a credible election for the association on August 20-22nd.

JAMB 2020 Change of Course And Institution – Monitoring Thread
There have been questions from 2020 UTME candidates as to whether or not the JAMB change of course and institution for 2020 has commenced. Well, at the moment there has not been any official announcement from JAMB concerning the commencement of the process.
We understand that the link for payment has been enabled on candidates’ individual profiles but we are not sure if the process itself has commenced.

Though there are rumours that the process has begun but we are yet to confirm the credibility of this.
Whatever be the case, we are going to use this thread to monitor and confirm if it has actually started and if not, then this thread will equally help us to know when it commences.
So if you have been able to process your change of course or institution or have a valid proof of someone who has been able to process his or her own changes, please let us know in the comment section.
All 2020 JAMB Candidates who wish to make any changes in their course/institution are advised to ensure they keep visiting this thread from time to time to check comments and see if there is any update that the process has commenced.
At the moment, what you need to do is to be sure of the course and institution you wish to change to, make sure you have the UTME/O’level requirements for that course and be sure the school offers such course
