ABIA STATE UNIVERSITY (ABSU) ANNOUCES 44TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY
The management of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, is pleased to announce the schedule for its 44th Matriculation Ceremony. This ceremony serves as the formal gateway for new students into the academic community for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Matriculation is more than just a photo opportunity; it is a legal requirement where students take a solemn oath of allegiance to the university’s rules and regulations, officially becoming “bonafide” members of the institution.
The Schedule: When and Where?
All matriculating students, parents, and well-wishers are invited to note the following details:
-
Date: Friday, 27th February, 2026.
-
Time: 11:00 AM Prompt.
-
Venue: University Pavilion, Uturu Campus.
Note: The ceremony is strictly for students who have completed their registration and met all financial obligations.
Who is Eligible to Matriculate?
Not every new student automatically matriculates. According to the university’s guidelines, the following categories of students are invited:
-
Postgraduate Students: Specifically those who did not earn their previous degrees from Abia State University.
-
First-Year Undergraduates: This includes students from both the Regular program and the Institute for Continuing Education (ICE).
-
Returning “Freshers”: Students from previous years who, for valid and documented reasons, were unable to participate in their original matriculation ceremony.
-
Financial Clearance: Only students who have paid their school fees in full and registered their courses are eligible.
Procurement of Matriculation Materials
To participate in the procession and the ceremony, students must be dressed in the official university regalia.
-
The Cost: The hiring fee for the Matriculation Regalia (Gown and Cap) and the Official Brochure is ₦15,000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Naira only).
-
Where to Pay: All payments must be made at the ABSU Micro-Finance Bank, Uturu, only.
-
Payment Deadline: Payment must be completed on or before Tuesday, 24th February, 2026.
-
Collection Date: The issuance of gowns and brochures will begin on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026, at the various Faculty offices.
A Step-by-Step Guide for the Big Day
To ensure you have a “hitch-free” experience, follow this sequence of activities:
1. Complete Your Registration
Ensure your O’Level results are verified, your admission is accepted on the JAMB CAPS portal, and your school fees are paid. You cannot generate a matriculation number without these steps.
2. Pay and Collect Your Gown
After paying at the Micro-Finance bank, take your teller to your Faculty Officer to collect your gown. Inspect the gown to ensure there are no tears or missing tassels.
3. Be Punctual
The academic procession (the parade of the Vice-Chancellor and the Senate) is a timed event. Students are expected to be seated at the University Pavilion by 10:30 AM.
4. The Oath of Allegiance
During the ceremony, the Registrar will lead you in the Matriculation Oath. This is the most significant part of the day. By saying “I do,” you agree to uphold the standards of ABSU.
5. Sign the Register
After the ceremony, you must return to your department to sign the Matriculation Register. This is critical—if you do not sign the register, you are not legally considered a student of the university, regardless of whether you wore a gown or took photos.

YOBE STATE UNIVERSITY (YSU) ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION FEE FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
The Office of the Bursar at Yobe State University (YSU), Damaturu, has officially released the approved fee schedule for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Understanding your financial obligations early is key to a stress-free registration process. While the university provides a general structure, the specific amount you pay often depends on your state of origin (Indigene vs. Non-indigene), your level of study, and your specific programme (e.g., Science, Arts, or Medicine).
How to Access Your Specific Fee Breakdown
Because fee structures can vary significantly between a student in the Faculty of Law and one in the Faculty of Science, the university has decentralized the distribution of these documents:
-
Visit Your Faculty: Physical copies of the detailed breakdown are available at your respective Faculty Offices.
-
Check Departmental Notice Boards: Most departments will paste the specific fees relevant to their students on the notice boards.
-
Student Portal: Log in to the YSU Student Portal using your credentials. Once you begin the registration process, the system will automatically generate your personalized invoice.
General Components of YSU Registration Fees
While the total amount changes based on the course, your registration fee typically covers the following essential services:
-
Tuition Fees: The core cost of instruction.
-
Library & Laboratory Fees: For access to research materials and practical equipment.
-
Examination Fees: Covering the administration of your semester finals.
-
Student Handbook & ID Card: Essential for your identity on campus.
-
Sports & ICT Levies: For the maintenance of university digital portals and athletic facilities.
-
Health Services/TISHIP: Mandatory health insurance for students.
Important Payment Advice
To ensure your payment is valid and your registration is confirmed, please follow these guidelines:
-
Official Channels Only: Always generate your Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) or invoice through the university portal. Never pay money into a private account.
-
Bank Payments: If paying at a bank, ensure you keep your stamped teller and the e-receipt generated.
-
Deadlines: Pay early to avoid “Late Registration” penalties, which are usually added after the first few weeks of the semester.
-
Keep Receipts: Digitally scan and keep physical copies of all your payment receipts until you graduate. You will need them for final clearance.
Summary Table: What to Prepare
| Step | Action Required |
| Step 1 | Visit your Faculty/Department to see the specific amount for your level. |
| Step 2 | Log in to the YSU portal to generate your payment invoice/RRR. |
| Step 3 | Make payment via the portal (Card) or at any commercial bank. |
| Step 4 | Return to the portal to confirm payment and register your courses. |
Need Help?
If you encounter any issues during the payment process or find discrepancies in your invoice, please visit the Bursary Department (Student Accounts Office) located within the Administrative Building for assistance.

A convocation is a very special time—it’s like a giant graduation party where the university celebrates several years of students at once. Since this is a Combined 29th and 30th ceremony, it means double the celebration!
Celebrate Success: The 29th & 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony

Congratulations to all the newly admitted students of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa! You have worked hard to gain your admission, and now it is time to officially join the university community.
The university management has scheduled the 15th Matriculation Ceremony to formally welcome the 100 Level and Direct Entry (DE) students for the 2025/2026 academic session. This ceremony is your official “induction” into the world of science and technology.
Event Details: When and Where?
Please mark your calendars and inform your parents and guardians of these important details:
-
Date: Wednesday, 4th February, 2026.
-
Time: 10:00 AM sharp.
-
Venue: University Auditorium, Main Campus.
Important Note: You are advised to be seated by 9:30 AM. The academic procession (the parade of professors and university leaders) is a serious and beautiful tradition that you won’t want to miss!
What Exactly is Matriculation?
If you are a 10-year-old reading this for an older sibling, you might be wondering what this big word means.
Think of matriculation as a “Signing Day.” It is the moment the University writes your name in their official “Big Book” of students. By taking the matriculation oath, you are making a promise to:
-
Study hard and follow the school rules.
-
Respect your teachers and fellow students.
-
Protect the name and reputation of OAUSTECH.
Until you participate in this ceremony and sign the register, you are just a “candidate.” After the ceremony, you are a Bonafide Student!
Preparing for the Big Day
To make sure you look and feel your best on February 4th, here is a simple checklist:
1. Academic Gowns
You must wear the official OAUSTECH matriculation gown. You can usually collect these from your Faculty Office or the Student Affairs Division. Make sure to get yours a few days before the ceremony so it fits perfectly.
2. Dress Code
Underneath your gown, you should dress very smartly.
-
For Gentlemen: A formal suit, or a white shirt with a tie and dark trousers.
-
For Ladies: A smart dress or a suit (skirt or trousers) that looks professional and modest.
3. The Matriculation Oath
During the event, you will stand up and repeat a special set of promises. This is called the Matriculation Oath. Pay close attention to what you are saying—it is the foundation of your journey as a scientist or engineer!
4. Photos and Celebrations
Matriculation is a day for joy. After the official ceremony in the Auditorium is over, you can take photos with your family and friends at the beautiful spots around the Main Campus to remember this special day forever.
