FEDERAL UNIVERSITY, KASHERE (FUKASHERE) GETS NUC APPROVAL OF 4 NEW PROGRAMMES
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially granted approval for the establishment of four new full-time academic programmes at the Federal University, Kashere (FUK) in Gombe State, beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.
This marks a major step forward in FUK’s growth and academic expansion, especially as the university strengthens its position as one of Nigeria’s fast-developing federal institutions.
🧾 Background
According to the NUC, the approval followed a resource verification visit carried out by a team of experts from the Commission.
During the visit, the team thoroughly assessed the human and material resources — such as qualified lecturers, infrastructure, laboratory equipment, and facilities — available at the institution to ensure they meet the Commission’s minimum standards for the proposed programmes.
The findings from the verification exercise led to the Commission’s approval of the following degree programmes:
🎯 Newly Approved Full-Time Programmes at FUKashere
1️⃣ MBBS, Medicine and Surgery
2️⃣ B.Sc. Human Anatomy
3️⃣ B.Sc. Human Physiology
4️⃣ B.Sc. Pharmacology
The approval was conveyed in an official letter dated October 17, 2025, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere.
The letter was signed by Abubakar M. Girei on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC.
📚 Important Clarifications
The NUC’s approval covers only the full-time mode of delivery for the newly introduced programmes.
It emphasized that if the university wishes to run any of these programmes in a part-time mode in the future, such proposals must first be submitted to the Commission for proper review and separate approval.
The Commission further reminded the university management to maintain adequate staffing, facilities, and resources to sustain the quality and standard of the programmes.
It also noted that the approval is limited strictly to the listed programmes and their specific nomenclature as approved.
🏥 A New Era for Medical Education at FUK
The introduction of the MBBS, Medicine and Surgery programme represents a historic milestone for the Federal University, Kashere.
With this development, FUK will now join the ranks of Nigerian universities officially authorized to train medical professionals, thereby contributing to the nation’s healthcare workforce and reducing pressure on other medical schools across the country.
This new addition reflects the university’s commitment to academic excellence, national development, and capacity building in the health sciences.
💬 Reactions from the University Community
The approval has been met with excitement among students, staff, and the host community.
Many described it as a significant achievement that will not only boost the university’s reputation but also create new academic and career opportunities for young Nigerians aspiring to study medicine and related health science disciplines.
The university management also expressed appreciation to the NUC for the trust and support extended to FUKashere, assuring that it will continue to uphold high academic standards and sustain quality teaching and research across all programmes.
🌟 Conclusion
The establishment of these new programmes is expected to further diversify the university’s academic portfolio and make FUKashere a preferred choice for prospective students, particularly those interested in medical and life sciences.
As the 2025/2026 academic session approaches, the Federal University, Kashere stands ready to open its doors to a new generation of students eager to pursue careers in medicine, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology — solidifying its role as a hub for learning, innovation, and national service.

NELFUND ANNOUNCES RE-OPENING OF STUDENTS’ LOAN APPLICATION PORTAL.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially announced the opening of its Student Loan Application Portal for the 2025/2026 academic session.
📅 Application Period:
Thursday, October 23, 2025 – Saturday, January 31, 2026.
This initiative is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensure that no Nigerian student drops out of school due to financial challenges.
🧭 What the Loan Is About
The NELFUND Student Loan Scheme is designed to support both new and returning students in all accredited tertiary institutions — universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and technical colleges — across Nigeria.
The goal is to make higher education more inclusive and affordable, ensuring equal access to quality learning opportunities for all eligible Nigerian youths.
🏫 What Institutions Need to Do
According to a statement signed by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, all tertiary institutions are required to continue uploading and updating verified records of their students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal.
This verification process is a crucial requirement — without it, students will not be able to access or benefit from the loan scheme.
Institutions are therefore urged to cooperate with NELFUND to ensure smooth, error-free verification and faster loan processing.
📋 Key Details of the Loan Application Process
Here are the most important things both students and schools need to know:
🔹 Portal Opening Date
Thursday, October 23, 2025
🔹 Portal Closing Date
Saturday, January 31, 2026
🔹 Eligible Applicants
✅ All returning and newly admitted students of accredited tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
🔹 Identification for Fresh Students
-
New students can apply using either their JAMB Registration Number or Admission Number in place of a Matric Number (for those yet to be matriculated).
🔹 Institutional Flexibility
NELFUND has encouraged all schools to show understanding toward students who are waiting for their loan disbursement.
-
Institutions should extend registration deadlines and delay fee payment enforcement for students whose loans are being processed.
🔹 Special Notice to Institutions Yet to Resume
Any institution that has not yet started the 2025/2026 academic session should officially write to NELFUND, attaching their approved academic calendar, to allow the agency adjust its schedule for student loan accessibility.
❤️ Ensuring No Student Is Left Behind
NELFUND emphasized that no student should be denied access to education because of money.
The agency is urging all tertiary institutions to consider temporary registration or provisional clearance for students awaiting loan approval. This measure ensures that students can attend classes and complete registration while their loan applications are being processed.
This inclusive approach reflects NELFUND’s mission to bridge financial gaps and support Nigerian students’ academic dreams.
🖥️ How to Apply
Students will apply directly through the official NELFUND Student Loan Portal:
Before applying, ensure that:
-
Your institution has uploaded your verified details on the NELFUND portal.
-
You have your JAMB Registration Number, admission letter, and other relevant personal details ready.
-
You provide accurate contact information during registration to receive updates about your loan status.
💬 For Support and Enquiries
Students or institutions who encounter any challenges can reach NELFUND through any of the official communication channels below:
📧 Email: [email protected]
🐦 X (Twitter): @nelfund
📸 Instagram: @nelfund
📘 Facebook & LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND
🌐 Website: www.nelf.gov.ng
🗣️ Final Note
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund expressed appreciation to all tertiary institutions for their continued cooperation and dedication in ensuring the success of the student loan scheme.
This initiative marks another important milestone in Nigeria’s education reform journey, as it ensures that no student is left behind due to financial hardship.
NELFUND is committed to building a future where education is a right, not a privilege — and every Nigerian student can confidently pursue their academic dreams without worrying about school fees.

All payment details, including tuition fees and departmental requirements, will be clearly shown on your student profile page.
After payments, you can start your course registration, document verification, and faculty clearance.
⚠️ NOTE: This Admission is Provisional
Your admission offer is provisional, which means it is based on the information and documents you submitted.
If at any point in the future — even during your final year — it is discovered that:
-
You do not have the minimum university or departmental entry requirements, or
-
You provided false or incomplete information during application,
➡️ Your admission will be withdrawn immediately, regardless of how far you’ve gone in your studies.
Therefore, all candidates are strongly advised to double-check their credentials (O’Level results, UTME subject combination, and other documents) to ensure that they meet the official requirements stated in the JAMB Brochure and University Handbook.

SA’ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY (SAZU) ANNOUCES PHYSICAL SCREENING FOR NEWLY ADMITTED STUDENTS FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
The management of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZUG) has officially announced the physical screening exercise for candidates who have been shortlisted on the supplementary admission list for the 2025/2026 academic session. This screening is a compulsory step for all candidates seeking admission into the university’s undergraduate programmes.
The physical screening is not for all applicants, but only for candidates who have been shortlisted in the supplementary admission list. If your name is on that list, this information is for you. If you do not attend the physical screening, you will lose your chance of admission, so you must take this announcement very seriously.
Date and Venue for Screening
The physical screening exercise will take place from:
📅 Monday, 20th October 2025
to
📅 Friday, 24th October 2025
The screening will be conducted at the various campuses of Sa’adu Zungur University where each programme is located. This means that candidates must visit the campus where their department is based. For example:
-
Candidates for Science programmes will screen at the Gubi Campus
-
Candidates for Arts and Social Sciences may screen at Yuli Campus
-
Professional courses will screen at their respective campuses
Candidates are strongly advised to arrive early at the venue and follow all instructions from university officials.
How to Check Your Name
The university has released the list of candidates who are eligible for this physical screening. All shortlisted candidates are to click the link provided by the university to view the Supplementary Admission List.
✅ If your name appears on the list, prepare for the screening immediately.
✅ If your name is not yet on the list, keep checking as more lists may be released.
Requirements for Physical Screening
All shortlisted candidates are required to come with the following documents:
| Required Document | Description |
|---|---|
| SSCE Result (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) | Printed copy from result checker |
| JAMB Original Result Slip | Must show your photo and JAMB score |
| Online Screening Form | Printed from SAZUG screening portal |
| Passport Photograph | Recent and clear, preferably with white background |
| O’Level Result Scratch Card | For result verification (WAEC/NECO) |
| Local Government Identification | Proof of state of origin |
| Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age | From court or recognized authority |
| JAMB Change of Institution Slip (if applicable) | If you changed to SAZUG |
Note: Any candidate who fails to come with these documents will not be screened.
O’Level Upload Warning
Before coming for screening, candidates must upload their O’level results on the JAMB CAPS Portal at any JAMB accredited centre. This step is very important because JAMB does not give admission to candidates who have not uploaded their O’level results.
Candidates who fail to do this may lose their admission, even if they pass the physical screening.
After the Screening – What Next?
After your screening, wait for 2–3 days, then:
✅ Log into your JAMB CAPS Portal
✅ Accept your admission
✅ Print your JAMB Admission Letter
Only candidates who accept their admission on JAMB CAPS will later get access to print their Sa’adu Zungur University admission letter on the school portal.
If a candidate rejects admission on JAMB CAPS by mistake, the university will automatically withdraw the admission, so applicants must be very careful.
Important Instructions
-
The screening is not an exam. It is only for document verification.
-
All documents must be original and photocopies.
-
Any false information or fake document will lead to automatic disqualification.
