AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, ZARIA ISSUES IMPORTANT NOTICE ON COMMENCEMENT OF COURSE REGISTRATION

The Management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, wishes to issue an important reminder to all students regarding the official Add/Drop exercise for the 2025/2026 academic session. The window for making these critical adjustments is scheduled to run from Monday, 9th February to Saturday, 21st February, 2026. During this two-week period, the university portal will be fully activated to allow students to amend their course registrations, correct errors in their academic profiles, or finalize outstanding financial obligations.

The Add/Drop period is a vital component of the university’s flexible academic system. It allows students to fine-tune their semester workload after attending the first few weeks of lectures, ensuring that their registered courses align with their academic capabilities and departmental requirements. Students are strongly advised to utilize this window immediately, as the portal is often subject to heavy traffic during the final hours of the deadline.

Critical Instructions for NELFUND Applicants

A significant portion of this update is directed toward students who have applied for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). To ensure that these students do not lose their academic standing while awaiting federal disbursement, Management has issued a specific directive.

All NELFUND applicants are advised to proceed with the payment of their school fees using alternative means to meet the current registration cutoff. The University formally guarantees that refunds will be processed for all such students once the institution receives the actual NELFUND disbursement. This proactive measure is necessary to ensure that students remain eligible for Continuous Assessment (CA) and are officially captured on the final class lists before the registration portal closes.

Consequences of Non-Compliance and Portal Closure

It is imperative for every student to understand that the Saturday, 21st February 2026 deadline is absolute. The university portal is programmed to shut down automatically at the end of this period and will remain closed for the remainder of the session.

Failure to finalize registration or course amendments within this timeframe will result in the following:

  • Missing Grades: You will not receive credits for courses you attended but failed to register for on the portal.

  • Automatic Failure: You may be awarded a “Fail” grade for courses that remain on your portal which you did not actually attend.

  • Ineligibility for Exams: Students with incomplete financial records or unregistered courses will be barred from entering examination halls.

Final Advice for the Student Body

The University Management urges all students to be diligent and responsible for their academic records. Please log in to the ABU portal as soon as it opens on Monday to verify that your Course Registration Form (CRF) is accurate. Ensure that your total credit units fall within the approved minimum and maximum limits set by your faculty. For those awaiting NELFUND, please retain all receipts of your manual payments to facilitate a seamless refund process once the federal funds are credited to the University.
