Welcome to the Family: Your Guide to the 2025/2026 Orientation at AAUA

Congratulations! You did it. You are now officially a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). Whether you are coming from far away or just down the road, we are so excited to have you here.

Starting university is like starting a brand-new book. You are the author, and today is page one. To help you write a great story, the Student Affairs Division has organized a special event just for you: the Fresh Students Orientation Programme.

The Big Details: When and Where?

Mark your calendars! You don’t want to miss these three days. It is the best way to start your journey on the right foot.

• Dates: Wednesday, January 21st to Friday, January 23rd, 2026.

• Time: 9:00 AM sharp (Being early is a great habit to start now!).

• Venue: The OBJ Multipurpose Hall, University Campus, Akungba-Akoko.

Important Note: Attendance is strictly mandatory. This means every single new student must be there. Think of it like the “Instruction Manual” for your next few years at school.

Why is Orientation So Important?

You might be thinking, “Why do I need to sit in a hall for three days?” That’s a fair question! University is very different from secondary school. At AAUA, you have more freedom, but you also have more responsibilities.

Orientation is designed to be your GPS. It helps you find your way around so you don’t get lost—not just physically on campus, but also in your studies and your social life. Here is what we will cover:

1. Meeting the Leaders

You will get to meet the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of Student Affairs, and other important people who run the university. They aren’t just names on a paper; they are people who want to see you succeed.

2. Learning the Rules

Every community has rules to keep everyone safe and happy. We will explain the “Do’s and Don’ts” of the university. This includes things like how to dress for classes, how to behave in the hostels, and how to stay out of trouble.

3. Understanding Your Studies

How do you register for courses? What happens if you miss an exam? How do you use the library? We will break down the academic side of things so you can focus on getting good grades.

4. Safety and Health

Your safety is our number one priority. During these three days, you will meet the campus security team and the medical staff from the university health center. They will tell you what to do if you ever feel sick or need help.

What to Expect Each Day

We have planned these three days to be fun, helpful, and full of energy.

• Day One (The Welcome): This is all about the “Big Picture.” You’ll hear inspiring speeches and learn about the history and vision of AAUA. You’ll realize you are part of something very special.

• Day Two (The How-To): This is the practical day. We will talk about money matters (bursary), how to use the computer labs, and how to join clubs or sports teams.

• Day Three (The Wrap-Up): We finish strong by answering your questions. There will also be a chance to meet your fellow students. Look around—the person sitting next to you might become your best friend for life!

Tips for a Great Orientation Week

To make the most of this event, here are a few simple tips:

1. Bring a Notebook and Pen: You will hear a lot of great advice. Write it down so you don’t forget.

2. Ask Questions: If you don’t understand something, please raise your hand! There are no “silly” questions. If you’re thinking it, someone else probably is too.

3. Dress Neatly: First impressions matter. Wear something comfortable but smart.

4. Be Social: Say hello to the person sitting next to you. Everyone is new, and everyone is a little bit nervous. A smile goes a long way.

5. Arrive Early: The OBJ Hall is big, but it fills up fast. Getting there early means you get a good seat and don’t miss the opening announcements.

Before you head out to the OBJ Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday morning, make sure you have:

• Confirmed the location of the OBJ Hall on the campus map.

• Set your alarm clock (remember, we start at 9:00 AM!).

• Told your roommates or friends so you can walk down together.
