ADAMAWA STATE UNIVERSITY (ADSU) PROMOTES THREE PROFESSORS AND SIX ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS

The Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi, is buzzing with celebration! During the 134th meeting of the University Senate held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Augustine Clement, shared some fantastic news.

Nine dedicated teachers have been promoted to higher ranks after passing a very tough “external assessment.” This means experts from other universities looked at their work and agreed that they are among the best in their fields. These promotions are a huge win for the staff, their students, and the entire university.

Meet the New Professors

A “Professor” is the highest rank a teacher can reach in a university. It takes years of research, writing books, and teaching to get here. Congratulations to:

  • Dr. Stephen Aduwamai Lagu – Now a Professor of Linguistics (the study of language).

  • Dr. Zainab Buba Mshelia – Now a Professor of Ecology (the study of nature and the environment).

  • Dr. Donald Zira John – Now a Professor of Numerical Analysis (high-level math for solving complex problems).

Meet the New Associate Professors (Readers)

An Associate Professor (also called a “Reader”) is just one step away from becoming a full Professor. These six leaders have shown they are experts in their specific areas:

Name Specialization
Dr. Asiyina Elihu Parasitology and Public Health
Dr. Mauda Ahmed Taxation
Dr. Lucky Benson Public Policy and Governance
Dr. Thandime Apollos Garba Fish Breeding and Genetics
Dr. Yusufu Gambo Applied Artificial Intelligence
Dr. Denis Basila Accounting

What This Means for ADSU Students

When your teachers get promoted, it’s great news for you too!

  • Better Learning: You are being taught by recognized experts who are at the top of their game.

  • Higher Reputation: These promotions help ADSU climb higher in the “Global Rankings,” making your degree even more valuable when you look for a job.

  • New Research: These professors are working on things like Artificial Intelligence, Public Health, and Taxation—topics that help Nigeria solve real-world problems.

A Message from the Vice-Chancellor

Professor Augustine Clement didn’t just give out awards; he gave the new professors a challenge. He asked them to:

  1. Work even harder: Being a leader means setting a great example for students.

  2. Conduct “Impactful Research”: He wants them to discover things that help the country grow and thrive.

“Congratulations to all the newly promoted staff on this well-deserved milestone!” — D. D. Kwabe, Information and Protocol Officer.
