Hon. Khadijat Omotayo KAREEM, Personal Assistant to the President on Constituency Affairs and First Lady of Ikorodu Local Government, has donated 132 hostel bed spaces to Lagos State University (LASU) to support indigent and vulnerable students, including persons living with disabilities.
Hon. KAREEM disclosed this on Friday, 23rd October 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi BADEJO, FCASSON, FAPROCON, MNAE, at her conference room.
Following the meeting, Hon. KAREEM led the Vice-Chancellor on a tour of the facility, which will be formally handed over to the University upon completion. The hostel is strategically located near the main University hostels, ensuring easy access and integration into the broader student residential community.
The initiative is aimed at easing accommodation challenges faced by students experiencing financial hardship, while ensuring that persons living with disabilities are also included in efforts to improve access to university accommodation. The donation is expected to complement the University’s ongoing efforts to promote student welfare and inclusive access to educational opportunities.
In her response, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated Hon. KAREEM for the gesture, noting that the donation would contribute significantly to the University’s efforts to address students’ accommodation needs and improve the welfare of indigent and vulnerable members of the University community.
The donation underscores the importance of public-spirited initiatives in complementing institutional efforts to address students’ welfare needs and promote equitable access to university accommodation.
