EBONYI STATE UNIVERSITY (EBSU) SECURES NUC ACCREDITATION FOR SEVEN NEW HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAMMES
Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, under the leadership of Professor M. U. Awoke, has obtained approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to establish seven new Health Science programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The development expands the range of health-related programmes available at the university and provides additional opportunities for prospective students seeking to pursue careers in the healthcare sector.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Associate Professor B. N. Ukwah, Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
SEVEN NEW HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAMMES APPROVED
The newly approved programmes are:
1. DOCTOR OF PHYSIOTHERAPY
The university has received approval to commence the Doctor of Physiotherapy programme.
2. DOCTOR OF OPTOMETRY
The Doctor of Optometry programme has also been approved as part of the new health science offerings.
3. BACHELOR OF RADIOGRAPHY AND RADIATION SCIENCE
Ebonyi State University will also offer the Bachelor of Radiography and Radiation Science programme.
4. BACHELOR OF HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
The university has secured approval for the Bachelor of Health Information Management programme.
5. BACHELOR OF COMMUNITY HEALTH SCIENCE
Another newly approved programme is the Bachelor of Community Health Science.
6. BACHELOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCE
The Bachelor of Environmental Health Science programme has also received approval for commencement.
7. B.SC. PUBLIC HEALTH
The seventh programme is the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Public Health.

- Doctor of Physiotherapy
- Doctor of Optometry
- Bachelor of Radiography and Radiation Science
- Bachelor of Health Information Management
- Bachelor of Community Health Science
- Bachelor of Environmental Health Science
- B.Sc. Public Health
