The Lagos State University (LASU) community has elected Professor Kabiru Olawale Paramole of the Department of Religions and Peace Studies as the new Dean-designate of the Faculty of Arts following a keenly contested election held on Tuesday, 14th July, 2026.

The election, which took place at the New TETFund Postgraduate Hall I on the LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, marked another significant milestone in the University’s commitment to democratic leadership and academic excellence.

Election Results

Professor Kabiru Olawale Paramole emerged victorious after securing 51 votes, defeating Professor Isaac Adeniyi Yekini-Ajenifuja of the Department of Music, who received 47 votes.

The official election results were as follows:

• Professor Kabiru Olawale Paramole – 51 votes
• Professor Isaac Adeniyi Yekini-Ajenifuja – 47 votes
• Void Votes – 3
• Total Votes Cast – 101

The results were announced by the Deputy Registrar/Faculty Officer and Returning Officer, Mr. Samuel Gbedozin, who officially declared Professor Paramole as the duly elected Dean-designate of the Faculty of Arts.

Assumption of Office

Professor Paramole will officially assume office as Dean of the Faculty of Arts on Saturday, 1st August, 2026, following the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Dean, Professor Ayo Ayodele, whose administration concludes on Friday, 31st July, 2026.

Outgoing Dean Congratulates Successor

Following the announcement of the election results, the outgoing Dean, Professor Ayo Ayodele, congratulated Professor Paramole on his victory.

He expressed confidence that the incoming Dean would build upon the achievements of the Faculty and continue promoting academic excellence, research, innovation, and institutional development within the Faculty of Arts.

A New Chapter for the Faculty of Arts

Professor Paramole’s election ushers in a new phase of leadership for the Faculty of Arts at Lagos State University. As a respected academic from the Department of Religions and Peace Studies, he is expected to provide strategic leadership that will strengthen teaching, research, staff development, and student engagement.
