ENUGU STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (ESUT) GETS NUC APPROVAL FOR CYBER SECURITY, DATA SCIENCE & 2 OTHER UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of five new full-time undergraduate programmes at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.

​The approval followed a resource verification exercise conducted by a panel of experts to assess the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.

​In a letter signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, the Commission approved the introduction of the following B.Sc.courses at the Universities main campus.

The recently approved courses are as follows;

1. ​Intelligence and Security Studies.
2. ​Cyber Security.
3. ​Data Science.
4. ​Software Engineering.
5. ​Artificial Intelligence.

​The Commission, however, clarified that the approval covers only the full-time mode of the programmes and does not extend to part-time delivery for now.

​It added that before the university can commence part-time or postgraduate components of any of the approved undergraduate programmes, it must notify the Commission for further processing and approval.

​The Commission further urged the university to provide adequate human and material resources to ensure the effective development and growth of the newly approved programmes.
