NORTH-EASTERN UNIVERSITY, GOMBE GETS NUC ACCREDITATION FOR PHARMACY AND 2 OTHER ACADEMIC PROGRAMES
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially approved the establishment of full-time undergraduate programmes at the Main Campus of North-Eastern University, Gombe, Gombe State. The directive, contained in an official letter referenced NUC/AP/F100/Vol.I/10 and dated 15th June, 2026, takes effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.
Details of the Approval
The approval follows a resource verification visit carried out by a panel of experts to assess the human and material resources available at the institution. The executive approval covers the full-time mode of delivery for the following academic programmes:
B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence
B.Sc. Information Systems
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)
Key Restrictions
The NUC explicitly notes that this approval does not cover part-time modes of delivery or any postgraduate component of these programmes. The university is required to notify the Commission for further processing before any such extensions can commence. The communication was issued by Abubakar M. Girei, Director of Academic Planning, for the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.
