Lagos State University of Science and Technology has announced the commencement of its 2026/2027 State of Origin Verification Exercise (SOVE) for candidates who are indigenes of Lagos State.

According to the institution, all candidates of Lagos State origin who selected LASUSTECH as their first choice institution in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 195 are eligible to participate in the exercise. Direct Entry (DE) candidates are also eligible.

The university explained that the verification exercise is compulsory for all Lagos State indigene candidates before they can proceed with the Post-UTME screening registration.

SOVE Registration Date

The online registration for the State of Origin Verification Exercise will begin on:

  • Wednesday, 20th May, 2026 and close on:
  • Friday, 12th June, 2026

Verification Interview Schedule

The physical verification interview has been scheduled to hold between:

  • Wednesday, 17th June, 2026
  • Friday, 19th June, 2026

LASUSTECH stated that each candidate’s specific interview date will be clearly indicated on the application form after registration.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the LASUSTECH SOVE exercise, candidates must:

  • Be an indigene of Lagos State
  • Choose LASUSTECH as first choice institution in the 2026 UTME
  • Score at least 195 in the 2026 UTME
  • Complete the State of Origin Verification Exercise successfully

The institution also emphasized that only candidates cleared by the State of Origin Verification Committee (SOVC) will be allowed to proceed with the Post-UTME screening process.

Important Notice to Candidates

The management of LASUSTECH stressed that the State of Origin Verification Exercise does not guarantee admission into the university. Rather, it is only meant to confirm the candidate’s Lagos State indigene status.

Candidates and parents were also warned against making payments to unauthorized individuals or accounts.

The university stated that any applicant who pays money through unofficial channels does so at their own risk.

How to Apply

  • Candidates are expected to make payment directly to Lagos State University of Science and Technology through the approved platform provided by the institution.
  • Applicants are advised to carefully follow all instructions during the registration process to avoid disqualification.

For more information and updates, candidates should visit the official LASUSTECH website

The notice was signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. David S. Ogungbe.
