Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Announces 2026/2027 Indigeneship Verification Exercise for Candidates Who are Indigenes of Lagos State
Lagos State University of Education has officially announced the commencement of the 2026/2027 Independent Indigeneship Verification Exercise for candidates who are indigenes of Lagos State.
According to the university management, the exercise is specifically for candidates of Lagos State origin who selected LASUED as their first choice institution in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 185.
The online registration portal for the verification exercise will open on Monday, 18th May 2026 and close on Sunday, 14th June 2026.
Candidates are advised to complete their registration within the stipulated period, as late applications may not be entertained.
Who Is Eligible?
The exercise is open to:
- Candidates of Lagos State origin
- Candidates who chose LASUED as first choice institution
- Candidates who scored 185 and above in the 2026 UTME
- Direct Entry applicants who are indigenes of Lagos State
The university also noted that old applicants from the 2025/2026 admission session who were not offered admission are expected to revalidate their Indigeneship Clearance Certificates.
Important Notice to Candidates
LASUED emphasized that participation in the Independent Indigeneship Verification Exercise does not automatically guarantee admission into the university.
Candidates must first be cleared by the LASUED Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (LIIVC) before they can be considered for admission into the institution.
Documents Required for Verification
Applicants are expected to appear for the screening with the following documents:
- Indigeneship Form
- Payment Receipt
- Candidate’s Birth Certificate (Original and Photocopy)
- Father’s Birth Certificate (Original and Photocopy)
- Letter from Oba
- Letter from Chairman of Local Government Area
- Landed Property Documents
The university specifically stressed that only “Letter from Oba” will be accepted.

The verification interview will run for four weeks from Monday, 1st June 2026 to Thursday, 25th June 2026.

The university warned applicants against making payment to individuals or unauthorized accounts. Any candidate who pays through unofficial means does so at his or her own risk.
LASUED reiterated that only candidates who scored 185 and above in the 2026 UTME are eligible to apply for the verification exercise.
