The Management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, through the Office of the Registrar, hereby issues this formal public announcement to inform all stakeholders, prospective applicants, and the general public of a significant transition in our academic offerings.

Following a strategic review of our institutional curriculum and in strict adherence to the evolving educational landscape in Nigeria, Kwara State University will discontinue its Top-Up and HND Conversion programmes, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

Regulatory Compliance and Educational Standards

This decision has been reached to ensure total compliance with the latest regulations and statutory mandates issued by the National Universities Commission (NUC). As the primary regulatory body overseeing university education in Nigeria, the NUC sets the benchmarks for academic excellence and institutional operation. KWASU remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and strictly abiding by all policy frameworks established by our regulators to ensure the integrity of our degrees.

Information for Currently Enrolled Students

Management is aware of the concerns this announcement may cause for students currently enrolled in these programmes. We wish to clarify that the National Universities Commission (NUC) will provide specific directives regarding the status and completion timeline for existing students in due course.

The University is working closely with the Commission to ensure that the transition is handled professionally and that the interests of our current students are protected under the guidelines provided by the regulatory authorities. Further updates regarding these directives will be communicated through the university’s official channels once they are finalized.

Commitment to Academic Excellence

Kwara State University, Malete, continues to be a center of academic pride and innovation. This adjustment in our programme list is a reflection of our dedication to following national educational policies that prioritize the quality and global competitiveness of Nigerian university graduates.

We advise all prospective candidates who were intending to apply for the Top-Up/HND Conversion programme for the 2025/2026 session to take note of this development and explore other academic pathways offered by the University that remain in full operation.

We appreciate the continued understanding and cooperation of the public as we uphold our mission to provide quality education in accordance with national laws.

Signed:

Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee

Registrar, Kwara State University, Malete.
