BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES 33RD MATRICULATION CEREMONY
The Management of the University, through the Directorate of Academic Affairs, has officially scheduled the 33rd Matriculation Ceremony for all newly admitted undergraduate students. This ceremony marks the formal admission of fresh students into the University community for the 2025/2026 academic session.
I. CEREMONY DETAILS

Date: Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026

Time: 9:00 a.m. (Procession begins at 10:00 a.m. prompt)

Venue: New Convocation Square
II. PRE-MATRICULATION ORIENTATION
A mandatory orientation programme has been organized to provide fresh students with essential information regarding university life, academic regulations, and campus ethics.

Dates: Monday, 20th and Tuesday, 21st April, 2026

Venue: New Convocation Square

Lecture Waiver: These two days, alongside the Matriculation Day, are lecture-free for all fresh undergraduate students to ensure full participation.
III. COLLECTION AND RETURN OF ACADEMIC GOWNS
Fresh students are required to follow these steps to secure their matriculation attire:

Payment: Pay a non-refundable fee of ₦2,000.00 at any of the following banks:

Issuance: Collection begins on Friday, 17th April, 2026. Present your bank receipt to your Faculty Officer to receive the gown.

Return Deadline: All gowns must be returned to the Faculty Officers on or before Friday, 1st May, 2026.

Late Fine: Failure to return the gown by the deadline will attract a penalty of ₦500.00 per day, payable to the Bursary Department.
IV. MANDATORY DOWNLOADS
All fresh students must visit the University Portal (www.bsum.edu.ng) to download the following documents:

The University Anthem
These documents must be brought to both the Orientation and the Matriculation Ceremony.
V. STAFF AND SENATE DIRECTIVES

Senate Members: Kindly report to the New Convocation Square by 9:00 a.m. for the procession. Academic gowns for Senate members should be collected by a detailed staff member from the Academic Office.

Deans & HODs: Ensure all qualified candidates in your departments are properly registered by cross-checking the list provided by the Directorate of ICT.

Procession: All Principal Officers, Senate members, and Heads of Units are requested to participate in the academic procession.
