YOBE STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENDS LATE REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

The Management of Yobe State University (YSU), Damaturu, has formally announced a final one-week extension for the late registration exercise for the 2025/2026 academic session. This decision, communicated through a notice from the Office of the Registrar dated February 13, 2026, is intended to provide a final window of opportunity for students who have yet to regularize their academic standing for the current year. The extension is inclusive, applying to both newly admitted students (100 Level and Direct Entry) and returning students across all undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The revised timeline for late registration is set to run from Monday, 16 February to Saturday, 21 February 2026. During this period, the university portal will remain open for the selection of courses, payment of tuition, and administrative clearances.

Administrative Mandates and Registration Integrity

In the statement signed by the Registrar, Isa Audu Dallari, the university emphasized that this extension is a “final” measure. Students are advised that the closure of the portal on February 21 will be absolute, as the institution moves to finalize the semester’s enrollment data and prepare official examination registers.

To ensure a successful registration process, students are encouraged to follow the established institutional steps:

  • Payment of Fees: All outstanding fees must be paid through the designated bank channels or the online payment gateway to activate the course registration module.

  • Course Selection: Students must consult with their Departmental Level Coordinators to ensure they are registering for the correct core and elective courses required for their specific level.

  • Portal Validation: After selection, students must “Submit” and “Lock” their courses on the portal to generate the official Course Registration Form (CRF).

  • Physical Clearance: The final step involves printing the generated forms and submitting them to the respective Faculty and Departmental Officers for manual documentation and signing.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

The university management has stressed that students who fail to utilize this extended window will face significant academic consequences. Without a completed registration, a student is not legally recognized for the 2025/2026 session, which typically results in:

  1. Ineligibility for Examinations: Students without a signed course form and a valid ID card (generated post-registration) will not be allowed into examination halls.

  2. Loss of Studentship: Prolonged failure to register can be interpreted as a voluntary withdrawal from the university.

  3. Late Penalties: While this window allows for registration, the “late” status may still carry an administrative fine as previously stipulated by the university’s financial regulations.

Students experiencing technical glitches with the portal are urged to visit the University ICT Center immediately rather than waiting until the final day of the extension. The Bursary Department will also be available to resolve any issues related to payment reflections on the student profiles.
