KOLADAISI UNIVERSITY, IBADAN ANNOUNCES 9TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY

The Management and Senate of KolaDaisi University (KDU), Ibadan, are pleased to announce the schedule and protocols for the 9th Matriculation Ceremony, welcoming the newly admitted scholars of the 2025/2026 academic session. This landmark event is not merely a social gathering but a foundational academic rite that officially transitions provisional candidates into bona fide students of this prestigious institution.

As a university committed to “nurturing graduates with global relevance,” KolaDaisi University views the matriculation ceremony as a solemn pledge between the institution and the student—a commitment to excellence, character, and the pursuit of transformative knowledge.

Ceremony Schedule and Venue Logistics
To ensure a dignified and orderly proceeding, the university has finalized the following logistical arrangements:

Date: Thursday, 5th February 2026

Time: 11:00 a.m. Prompt

Venue: Agbeke Hall, KolaDaisi University Campus, Ibadan-Oyo Expressway.

Agbeke Hall, the university’s premier ceremonial center, will serve as the host venue. Given the significance of the event, guests and matriculants are advised to be seated by 10:30 a.m. to allow for the commencement of the academic procession, which serves as the traditional opening of the ceremony.

The Significance of the Matriculation Oath
The core of the ceremony is the administration of the Matriculation Oath. Under the authority of the University Senate, fresh students will be formally admitted into the university community. By taking this oath, students publicly declare their intention to:

Abide by the University Statutes: Respect the rules, regulations, and codes of conduct set forth by the management.

Pursue Academic Integrity: Commit to honest scholarship and shun all forms of examination malpractice.

Uphold Institutional Values: Protect the university’s property and reputation while fostering a peaceful campus environment.

Reject Social Vices: Formally renounce membership in secret cults and involvement in drug abuse or other antisocial behaviors.

Taking the oath is a mandatory requirement. A student who has not taken the oath and signed the Matriculation Register is not legally recognized as a student of KolaDaisi University, regardless of admission status or fee payment.

Administrative Leadership and Presiding Officers
The ceremony will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun, SAN. As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a distinguished academic, Prof. Olatunbosun brings a wealth of legal and administrative excellence to the leadership of the university.

During the proceedings, the Vice-Chancellor will:

Deliver the Matriculation Address, outlining the university’s vision and the expectations for the new cohort.

Administer the Matriculation Rites on behalf of the University Senate.

Formally welcome the students into their respective Faculties (Applied Sciences, Management and Social Sciences, and Arts).

Guidelines for Matriculating Students
To ensure the ceremony maintains its prestige, all fresh students must adhere to the following directives:

1. Academic Regalia (Gowns)
All matriculants are required to wear the official KolaDaisi University academic gown.

Collection: Gowns are to be collected from the respective Faculty Offices upon presentation of evidence of school fee payment and matriculation gown hire receipts.

Return: Gowns must be returned to the Faculty Officers within 24 hours of the ceremony’s conclusion. Failure to return the gown on time will attract a daily late penalty fee.

2. Dress Code and Appearance
The academic gown is a garment of honor and must be treated with respect. Students are expected to dress in strict corporate attire underneath their gowns:

Gentlemen: Suit or dress shirt with a necktie, dark trousers, and formal shoes.

Ladies: Corporate gowns or skirts (of appropriate length) and blouses.

Prohibited: Casual wear such as jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, or provocative clothing is strictly forbidden. Students inappropriately dressed will be barred from the academic procession.

3. The Academic Procession
Matriculants are an integral part of the academic procession. Students will be arranged according to their faculties and will march into Agbeke Hall behind the Faculty Officers and the University Mace. This symbolizes the student’s entry into the disciplined world of academia.
