All stakeholders—including parents, guardians, graduands, staff, and the general public—are advised to take note of these dates and venues to ensure adequate preparation for these prestigious ceremonies.
1. The 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony
The first major event on the university’s 2026 calendar is the formal admission of newly admitted students. This ceremony serves as a legal and academic contract between the university and the freshmen, where they officially take the matriculation oath to uphold the rules of the institution.
-
Date: Friday, February 27, 2026.
-
Time: To be announced (typically 10:00 AM).
-

Significance for New Students
Matriculation is the final step in the admission process. For a student to be recognized as a bonafide member of AKSU, they must participate in this ceremony and sign the Matriculation Register. This document is a permanent record that validates their studentship throughout their duration of study.
2. The 6th, 7th & 8th Combined Convocation Ceremony
Immediately following the matriculation of new students, the University will pivot to celebrate its high-achieving alumni. This combined ceremony is designed to clear the backlog of graduands who have completed their studies and are ready to be formally conferred with their degrees.
-
Date: Saturday, February 28, 2026.
-
Venue: AKSU Sports Grounds, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
This event is expected to be a grand gathering of the University’s “Crème de la Crème,” featuring the award of Bachelor’s degrees, Postgraduate diplomas, and Higher degrees to deserving candidates from the 6th, 7th, and 8th sets of graduates.
3. The 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th Combined Convocation Ceremony
In a historic move to ensure all previous graduates are properly celebrated, the University has scheduled a second massive convocation event for the second quarter of the year. This ceremony will cater to four consecutive sets of graduates, making it one of the largest academic gatherings in the history of Akwa Ibom State University.
-
Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026.
-
Venue: College Square, Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
By hosting this combined event at the College Square, the University provides a central and dignified atmosphere for the formal conferment of degrees and the presentation of academic prizes to the best-performing students from these sets.
