NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA (NOUN) RELEASES APPROVED ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2026

The Office of the Registrar (Academic Registry) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has officially released the approved academic calendar for the first quarter of 2026. This schedule outlines vital deadlines for admissions, registrations, and project submissions to help students plan their semester effectively.

Admission and Registration Deadlines

For students looking to join NOUN or register for the current semester, please note the following:

• Admission Applications: The portal remains open for the entire academic year, from January 1st to December 31st, 2026.

• Course & Exam Registration: Registration for the 1st Semester 2026 began on Monday, January 5th and will officially close on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026.

• Student Warning: It is highly recommended to complete registration before the March 22nd deadline to ensure eligibility for 1st Semester examinations.

Project Submissions and Defences

The calendar provides several windows for project and seminar-related activities:

Facilitation and Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs)

Online facilitation and assessments are critical components of the NOUN learning model:

• Online Facilitation: Scheduled to run for 8 weeks, starting Monday, February 2nd and ending Sunday, April 5th, 2026.

• TMA 1: Must be completed between Monday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 15th, 2026.

• TMA 2: Scheduled for Monday, March 16th to Sunday, March 29th, 2026.

Important Institutional Events

• Operational & Policy Meetings: February 24th and 25th, 2026.

• Inaugural Lecture & Honorary Degree Meetings: Thursday, February 26th, 2026.
