The management of the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences (FUAHS), Enugu, has officially announced the resumption date for academic activities for the 2025/2026 academic session. This development was made public through an official circular released by the Office of the Registrar. The university expressed readiness to begin a fresh academic year and urged both new and returning students to adhere strictly to the resumption schedule.

According to the notice signed by the Registrar, Barr. (Dr.) Christopher Igbokwe, the university will reopen for the First Semester on Sunday, 2nd November 2025. On that day, students are expected to return to campus, complete hostel clearance processes, and resume academic registration. Lectures will commence fully on Monday, 3rd November 2025, marking the official start of academic activities for the new session.


🎓 A New Academic Year Begins

The announcement signifies the beginning of another academic journey for students of the institution. For newly admitted students, this marks the start of a new chapter in their quest for professional development in health and medical sciences. FUAHS, Enugu is one of the specialized federal universities established to address manpower gaps in the Nigerian health sector by training highly skilled health professionals.

The university offers programmes in various health-related disciplines such as:

The released academic schedule contains important dates that students must take into consideration:

According to the circular, the First Semester resumption quiz will take place in the third week after resumption. This quiz forms part of students’ continuous assessment (CA) and will contribute to their overall academic performance. Therefore, the management advised students to return to campus fully prepared as academic activities will begin immediately.


📌 Obligations for Returning and Fresh Students

Students are expected to strictly comply with the schedule. The management emphasized that late resumption will not be condoned, especially due to the tight academic calendar designed to ensure timely completion of the academic year.

Students are expected to:

✅ Complete their online course registration on the university portal
Pay all approved school charges and levies before the commencement of lectures
✅ Attend lectures regularly to meet the 75% attendance requirement
✅ Participate in all continuous assessments, including the resumption quiz
✅ Possess valid student identity cards and clearance documents
✅ Maintain discipline and good conduct on campus


🧾 Requirements for Fresh Students

For newly admitted students, the resumption date will also mark the continuation of their clearance and departmental documentation. The management has directed all freshers to report to their respective faculties and departments for screening with the following documents:

  • Admission Letter from JAMB

  • University Provisional Admission Letter

  • JAMB Result Slip

  • O’Level Result(s) – WAEC/NECO/NABTEB

  • Birth Certificate or Age Declaration

  • LGA/State of Origin Certificate

  • Acceptance Fee Receipt

  • Passport Photographs

  • Medical Fitness Report (from a government hospital)

Fresh students are advised to ensure that all documents submitted are genuine, as any falsification of records will lead to automatic disqualification of admission and possible prosecution.


🏛️ University Advises Compliance

In the notice, the Registrar advised both staff and students to take note of the resumption date and ensure full compliance. The release further emphasized the institution’s commitment to discipline, academic quality, and respect for university regulations. The Registrar noted that the management is fully prepared for a smooth resumption, adding that academic and administrative staff members must also be available to carry out their official duties without delay.

He further stated that the university’s academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session has been structured to avoid unnecessary academic delays. This aligns with the Federal Government’s directive urging universities to maintain stable academic calendars and reduce disruptions caused by strikes or internal crises.


🛏️ Accommodation and Campus Life

Students who applied for accommodation in the university hostels are expected to complete their hostel clearance upon arrival. Hostel allocation will be strictly based on availability and priority will be given to:

  1. 100 Level (fresh) students

  2. Final year students

  3. Physically challenged students

  4. Students with special health conditions

The management also reiterated the importance of maintaining a clean and safe campus environment. Students residing on campus must adhere strictly to hostel rules and avoid activities such as cultism, unauthorized visitors, gambling, fighting, and vandalism.


📚 Academic Excellence and Discipline

FUAHS, Enugu is recognized for its emphasis on discipline, professionalism, and academic integrity. The university operates under strict regulations that promote seriousness in learning. Students are reminded that:

  • 75% class attendance is mandatory to sit for examinations

  • Cheating during exams will attract severe sanctions

  • Cultism, exam malpractice, drug abuse, and cybercrime are strictly prohibited

  • Respect for lecturers and authorities is mandatory

  • Proper dress code is to be maintained within academic and clinical environments
