DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY (DELSU) RELEASES CHANGE OF COURSE ADMISSION FORM FOR DIRECT ENTRY STUDENTS FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

The management of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has officially released an important update for candidates seeking admission into the university for the 2025/2026 academic session. This announcement is targeted at applicants who participated in the DELSU Post-UTME screening exercise but have not yet been offered admission due to not meeting the cut-off marks for their original course choices.

According to the notice from the university, vacancies now exist in several departments and programmes, giving candidates another opportunity to secure admission through a Change of Course/Programme process. This admission opportunity also extends to candidates from DELSU JUPEB and CCEP programmes.

✅ Who is Eligible?

This window is open to:

  • Candidates who participated in the DELSU Post-UTME screening for 2025/2026.

  • Candidates whose aggregate score is below the cut-off mark of their initially chosen course.

  • Candidates who meet the O’Level requirements of their newly selected programme.

  • Candidates from DELSU JUPEB and CCEP programmes who have qualifying results.

🎯 Important Admission Instruction

Candidates who are willing to apply must ensure the new course they are switching to has a lower cut-off mark than their aggregate. Failure to follow this rule will lead to automatic disqualification.

Example:

  • Cut-off mark for Mass Communication = 76

  • Only candidates with 76 and above who were not admitted yet can switch to Mass Communication.

  • Those who scored below 76 cannot choose Mass Communication because they do not meet the minimum cut-off.

✅ Method of Application

Interested candidates must carefully follow the steps below to successfully apply:

Step 1: Change of Course on JAMB Portal

  • Visit any JAMB-accredited CBT centre or use the JAMB CAPS portal.

  • Apply for Change of Course/Programme and choose a new available course in DELSU where your aggregate meets or exceeds the cut-off mark.

  • Make sure DELSU remains your institution of choice.

Step 2: Update Changes on DELSU Portal

  • Visit the Delta State University student portal:

  • Log in using your JAMB Registration Number.

  • Update your profile by selecting the new course chosen in step 1.

  • Save your changes and print the confirmation slip.

Step 3: Special Instructions for JUPEB & CCEP Candidates

  • Candidates applying from DELSU JUPEB or CCEP programmes must submit evidence of:

    • JAMB change of course (Step 1)

    • DELSU portal update (Step 2)

  • Submit documents to the Directors of JUPEB or CCEP Centres respectively for verification.

📌 Important Notes to All Applicants

  • ✅ The new selected course must have a lower cut-off mark than your aggregate score.

  • ✅ Candidates must meet the subject and O’level requirements of the new course.

  • Only candidates who follow all procedures correctly will be considered.

  • Priority will be given to candidates from DELSU JUPEB and CCEP programmes.

⏳ Application Deadline

🛑 Closing Date: Sunday, 19th October 2025
The university has made it clear that there will be no extension after the deadline. Candidates are strongly advised to act quickly to avoid missing this opportunity.

📚 Why Change of Course is Important

Many candidates every year lose admission opportunities simply because they select highly competitive courses like Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Mass Communication, and Computer Science without meeting the competitive cut-off marks. DELSU, however, has opened this change of course window to help applicants increase their chances of gaining admission by considering alternative but relevant programmes.

This move promotes fairness and access to higher education, ensuring no slot goes unused in departments with available spaces.

✅ Tips for Choosing a Better Course Option

Candidates should consider the following before making a change:

If You Applied For You Can Switch To
Medicine & Surgery Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing, Medical Biochemistry
Law Political Science, History & International Studies, Philosophy
Computer Science Information Systems, Mathematics, Cybersecurity
Accounting Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Marketing
Mass Communication English, Theatre Arts, Sociology
Pharmacy Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology
Nursing Health Education, Physiology, Human Anatomy

Choosing a course close to your original choice allows you to still build a career in your desired field.

📄 O’Level Requirements Reminder

Candidates must ensure their O’Level (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) meets:

  • A minimum of 5 credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.

  • Specific subject combinations required for the selected course.

  • Not more than two sittings are allowed.

Failing to meet these requirements will lead to disqualification even if your aggregate score is high.

✅ Final Instructions to Applicants

  • Print all documents after applying.

  • Check your email and JAMB CAPS regularly for admission updates.

  • Monitor your admission status under “Admission Status” on both DELSU and JAMB portals.

  • Accept your admission promptly once offered.

🎉 Final Note

The Change of Course/Programme opportunity by Delta State University, Abraka is a lifeline for many candidates who narrowly missed their dream course. Serious applicants should act immediately and follow the procedure without mistakes. Admission is still possible — do not give up!
