The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, had disclosed that the students of higher institutions that have affliction with AAUA can henceforth participate in the one year mandatory National Youths Service Corps scheme after graduation.

The don stated this at the matriculation ceremony of the City College Education, Maraba in Nasarawa State, which is an affiliate of AAUA.

No fewer than 200 students of the degree-awarding institution took the admission oath of the university at the ceremony.

Represented by the Director of the University’s Institute of Education, Dr. Ileoye Aina, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the college was affiliated to AAUA, to run degree programmes under the supervision of the university.

Ige said, the matriculating students were among the few who scaled the rigorous but fair hurdles of admission to the university, adding that National Universities Commission had fully accredited all undergraduate programmes affiliated with the university.

He warned the students to shun all  anti-social vices that could jeopardise their studentship of the university, saying the institution had zero tolerance for indiscipline.

The AAUA boss said, “I want to assure you ( the matriculating students) that all our courses are fully accredited by the NUC. In addition, successful graduates of the courses offered here will be processed for the NYSC scheme as appropriate.”

Meanwhile,  Owo and Akure branches of the AAUA alumni has hailed the appointment of Ige, as the sixth substantive VC of the varsity.

A statement by the alumni said  the chairman of the Akure branch of the association, Mr Alex Adeniyi, urged the VC to speedup transcript application and certificate collection processes.

Also, the chairman of the Owo branch of the association, Mr Saka Olokungboye, said he had no doubt that Ige would take the varsity to enviable heights.
