The Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Staff Disciplinary Committee has issued a twelve months suspension without pay to Godwin Olai, a lecturer with the Department of Management with effect from 8th August, 2021, over his involvement in malpractice.

In a statement by the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Ozo Mekuri-Ndimele, Olai was found guilty of demanding the sum of N70,000 from one of his undergraduate supervisees to help the student write, type and bind his project.

The statement maintained that the “committee on behalf of the Management of the University acted on an audio recording” which alleged that some final year students writing their project under the supervision of Godwin Olai were each asked by the lecturer to pay the said amount of money.

The statement revealed that the lecturer from the conversation was expected to personally “write, type and bind the finished projects for the students without any input from them”, with the exception of their Dedication and Acknowledgements pages.

Professor Ndimele noted that the school is determined to keep its surroundings clean from all forms of malpractice and warned everyone doing business within the institution to be careful.
