The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, on Thursday said most of the agreements reached with the Academic Staff Union of Universities were under duress.

Echono stated this during a retreat organised by the governing council of the University of Abuja.

ASUU and the Federal Government have constantly been engaged in tussles over the latter’s failure to meet some of the demands put forward by ASUU.

Echono said, “I have heard so much about the fact that the government has failed to honour the agreements with ASUU. I have a different view about that because most of these agreements are imperfect.

If somebody comes to my house and puts a gun to my head, I might agree to everything because those agreements are signed under duress. If you want to introduce obligations or responsibilities on their part, they will insist you cannot.”

Meanwhile sources on Thursday told our correspondent that ASUU would decide whether to go on strike or not following the end of its scheduled zonal conferences on December 15, 2021.

In a document obtained by The PUNCH, it was gathered that the meetings would take place between December 9 and December 15 in Abuja, Nsukka, Ibadan, Yola, Benin, Akure, Lagos, Bauchi, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Sokoto and Kano.

The source added that the decision to go on strike would depend on the outcome of the zonal press briefings.

This is to inform all prospective candidates into Bornu State University Maiduguri that the online screening exercise for 2021/2022 admissions has commenced. All prospective candidates into the various programmes of the University should visit the University’s website at bosu.admissions.cloud for the screening procedure.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for admission, a candidate must have:

i. Obtained a minimum of five (5) relevant credits at O’ level (including English and Mathematics);

Sat for the relevant UTME subject combination in the 2021 JAMB examination;

Direct Entry (DE) candidates shall in addition to the minimum of five (5) O’ level relevant credits (including English and Mathematics) must have scored a minimum of 7 points in IJMB or NCE and at least lower credit in ND.

MODE OF PAYMENT:

Eligible candidates are to pay the sum of Two Thousand Naira Only (N2,000.00) for the screening exercise through the payment options provided on the University’s website.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Interested applicants are to visit: bosu.admissions.cloud the Post-UTME application portal to complete the online application form.

The Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the Lagos State University, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, fulfilled his promise by donating two coaster buses to the Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU). Governor Sanwo-Olu had promised to donate the buses when he opened the Students’ Arcade on Thursday, 2nd December, 2021.

The two brand new buses were delivered by the government to the University Main Campus, Ojo and presented to the LASUSU President, Comrade Uthman Badmus (BADECIOUS), by the Acting Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Tajudeen Olumoko on behalf of the university management.

The Acting Dean, in a brief comment, appreciated the Lagos State Government and the University Management for the gesture. “We appreciate the Governor for making a promise and fulfilling it. We also thank the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, for helping to facilitate the process. Finally, our appreciation goes to the university management, led by our dear Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello for giving the students the platform to interact with the Governor.”

On his part, the LASUSU President, Badmus, on behalf of the Executives of the Union, also expressed his gratitude to the Governor and all other stakeholders who made the donation possible. He assured that the Union would put the buses to good use for the benefit of all students of the University.

A. Eligibility

Emmanuel Alayande COE, Oyo NCE Admission for 2021/2022 session

(i) Candidates who made Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo their First choice institution during the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

(ii) Candidates who sat for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and did not choose Emmanuel Alayande College of Education.

(iii) Other candidates ( call admission officer for further clarification).

B. METHOD OF APPLICATION

(i) Candidates are required to apply online through the College website www.admissions.eacoed.edu.ng as soon as possible upon payment of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000.00) screening application fee and three thousand Naira (N3,000) portal access handling and administrative fee making a total of N5,000 only to any of the Zenith Bank Branch.

(ii) Consequent upon payment and entering the teller details of the application fees online, the applicants will receive a pair of pin and serial number through SMS after 24 hours when the confirmation of payment would have been established. The received pin code and serial number will then be used for on-line registration at www.admissions.eacoed.edu.ng.

(iii) Candidates are required to:

(a) Upload their 2021 UTME results

(b) Upload O’level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB etc)

(c) Upload a recent Passport photograph.
