2021/22 Approved Academic calender

The management of the federal Polythecnic Offa had released the Approved Academic calender for the 2021/22 Academic Session.

Campusinfo gathered this information as the Academic calender was rolled out few hours ago.

New Resumption date for the 2021/22 Session.

In accordance with the Academic calender, fresh students and new students are expected to resume for Registration as from 10th, January,2022.

Lectures is scheduled to span for 12weeks starting as from 24th of January,2022 being Monday till 15th of April,2022 being Friday.

Second batch Admission list for the 2021/22 Session is out.

The second list of admitted candidates for 2021/2022 Admission into various degree programmes has now been released. Candidates who participated in the 2021 Admission screening exercise can now check their admission status via the University Undergraduates Admission portal.

All admitted candidates are hereby directed to pay the sum of forty thousand naira (N40, 000.00) only as Acceptance Fees for the Provisional Admission offered.

Payment of the Acceptance Fees is by the UNIOSUN WebPAY platform through the use of Interswitch enabled Debit/ATM cards (Verve, Visa and Master cards).

2022 UTME: JAMB SET TO BEGIN SALES OF REGISTRATION FORMS, MAKES NIN COMPULSORY

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will soon commence the sale of application documents/ registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).

The Board, is at the moment, engaging its core functionaries in a series of intensive training exercises to ensure that once the date is announced, the stage would have been set for yet another hitch-free exercise.

The release of this information is in line with the Board’s firm determination to ensure that candidates who are desirous of enrolling are readyand prepared.

Similarly, it is expected to serve as a wake-up call so that all who may want to register would have gone to first obtain their

National Identification Number (NIN), a major prerequisite for the UTME registration.

For those who may want to obtain any of the two application documents, they are

advised to get their NIN, familiarise themselves with the Board’s Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS), which would give them an idea of the course requirements and the syllabus they are expected to cover for the examination.

IBASS is on the Board’s website and is downloadable on Google Playstore and other similar platforms. The next step is for the candidate to create his/her profile by sending the NIN to 55019 to create a profile for registration.

The Board has put adequate measures in place not only to checkmate those who may want to cheat but also strengthened all administrative procedures for the smooth prosecution of any candidate, centre or even staff of the Board found to have been involved in any infraction starting from the registration exercise.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has postponed its decision on strike, saying that consultations are still ongoing.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the union after its National Executive Council meeting.

The meeting held at its Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja, on Saturday, December 18, 2021 to review the level of government’s implementation of the FGN-ASUU Memorandum of Action of December 23, 2020 and other related matters.

In the press statement titled, ‘Enough of blackmail’, signed by ASUU president, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, the lecturers regretted that the Federal Government had turned its back on the plan to set up an inter-ministerial committee to review the draft Renegotiated 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement.

Earlier, ASUU had announced plans to embark on a strike over the Federal Government’s failure to meet its demands.

Apart from the Earned Academic Allowances, ASUU said its demands included the review of the NUC Act to curb the proliferation of universities by state governments who are not funding the existing ones; adoption of the University Transparency Accountability Solutions (UTAS) with concurrent discontinuance of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) and distortion in salary payment.

Others are the release of accumulated promotion arrears; and the review and signing of the draft document on the Renegotiation of 2009 ASUU-FGN Agreement.

Part of the statement read, “NEC was worried by the spirited efforts of government agents to reduce the demands of ASUU to a regime of intermittent payment of watered-down revitalisation fund and release of distorted and grossly devalued Earned

Academic Allowances.

ASUU shall not relent in demanding improvement in the welfare and conditions of service of our members. However, we shall resist any attempt to blackmail the union and derail our patriotic struggle for a productive university system by official propaganda founded on tokenism and crumb-sharing.

“NEC concluded that government has failed to satisfactorily address all the issues

raised in the 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement and subsequent MoUs and MoAs.

“However, considering the ongoing intervention and consultation efforts, NEC resolved to review the situation at a later date with a view to deciding on the next line of action.”

RESUMPTION FOR THE 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, will resume for the 2021/2022 academic session on 13th January, 2021. However, the e-portal will be opened for registration of courses on 26th December, 2021.
