This is to inform all interested candidates that choose Kwara State University, Malete (KWASU) as their (first or second) choice institution and scored above 160 in 2021 UTME Examination that, the school management has extend Application deadline for 2021/2022 Post UTME form.

CAMPUS INFO gathered that the 2021/2022 Online registration that kick start on Friday, 17th of September, 2021 and supposed to end on Friday, 1st of October, 2021 has been extended now.

The Application form has been extended for another two weeks.

The new deadline is now Saturday, 16th of October, 2021.

All interested candidates are urge to make good use of this opportunity. All those interested in admission into KWASU but have not made it their choice, are urge to do so.

Many candidates have been asking about the closing date for the JAMB change of course and institution. At the moment, there is no general official closing date for the 2021 JAMB change of course and institution. JAMB change of course and institution closing date for 2021/2022admission has not been announced.

According to JAMB, the process will still be on until the end of the admission process due to the following reasons;

There are moments whereby candidates who chose a particular institution will not have the opportunity to be admitted in such institutions and another institution may be in the position to offer such candidates the admission. If the process of change of course and institution happens to have closed by then, it means that such candidates will not have the choice to change to the institution(s) that wish to offer them admission.

It will help strengthened JAMB statistics. So that when JAMB is giving an account of admission of candidates, accurate statistics will be presented and not distorted data like in previous years. If a candidate for instance chooses the University of Lagos and later considers YABATECH, the statistics will reflect the second choice. Instead of the two schools.

It will also avoid the case whereby candidates will have multiple admission.

Candidates are therefore advised not to panic but rather take their time to make the decision of the suitable course and institution to change to that will give them a good chance of securing admission.

However, some schools can instruct JAMB to stop candidates from changing to them. Top schools like UNIBEN, OAU, UNILORIN, UNIPORT etc usually stop candidates from changing to them once it is maybe a week to the deadline for Post-UTME registration or once they have concluded the screening exercise.

So if the school you intend to change to is a competitive one, it is usually advisable that you do the change on time. At least two weeks before the deadline for the Post-UTME screening of that school so that your details can reflect on their postal before the deadline. If not, you may not be able to register for the screening exercise in that school.

Candidates who wished to change their choice of course or institution are therefore advised to think properly, before doing so to avoid irregularities.

The process of change of courses and institutions could be done with the payment of N2, 500 in JAMB Computer Based Tests (CBT) centres and at other approved centres. For full details on how to proceed, check this link:

Thaddeus Ifeanyi, a 31-year-old graduate of the Delta State University, who is contesting his final result from the varsity, tells MATTHEW OCHEI about his grievance his grievance.

WHY WROTE A PETITION TO THE DELTA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY AGAINST DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY, WHICH IS YOUR ALMA MATER. WHAT IS YOUR GROUSE WITH THE SCHOOL?

My name is Thaddeus Ifeanyi. I am a 31-year-old graduate of Sociology from the Delta State University, Abraka. My Matriculation Number is FSS/10/11/183959. I graduated in the 2013/2014 academic session. The university claimed that I graduated with less than 3.0 CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average), which is Second Class Lower, but I strongly believe that I graduated with Second Class Upper Division. My grouse with the university is that I strongly believe that there was an error in the computation of my CGPA. I am not convinced that the result they gave me is correct, but all my efforts to get it corrected have proved abortive.

WHY DO YOU FEEL STRONGLY THAT THERE WAS AN ERROR IN THE COMPUTATION OF YOUR CGPA?

I kept a record of my exam results for each semester from 100 Level to my final year.

FROM YOUR ON CALCULATION, WHAT CGPA WERE YOU EXPECTING?

By my own calculation, it was 3.57 above. I expected at least Second Class Upper Division because I studied for it. And this is why I am calling on the general public and men of goodwill to speak up for me..

BEFORE RESORTING TO WRITING PETITIONS AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY, DID YOU COMPLAIN TO THE SCHOOL ABOUT THE ALLEGED ERROR IN THE COMPUTATION OF YOUR RESULTS?

Yes, I did. I promptly protested the final scores allotted to me in each course, especially my final year courses. I have been on this case since 2015. I wrote to the university management on January 15, 2015, requesting to see my final examination answer booklets for 400 Level. I wrote a protest letter to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, who later became the Vice-Chancellor. Rather than oblige my request, the university management took offence, threatened me and demanded that I tender an unreserved apology to the lecturers in the Department of Sociology. They said I should publish the apology on the school’s notice board.

DID YOU WRITE THE APOLOGY LETTER?

Yes, I was coerced to write the letter because they threatened that if I did not I would not be deployed for NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) along with my mates. Now, having completed NYSC, I feel even more shortchanged and that is why I have continued to protest. On February 1, 2016, I wrote another letter to the university management, asking them to let me see my answer booklets for my final year examinations.

WHAT WAS THE UNIVERSITY’S RESPONSE TO YOUR SECOND LETTER?

Having realised that the university was not ready to listen to me, I approached the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Asaba and presented my complaint. On February 22, 2018, the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria promptly wrote to the Vice-Chancellor but the letter was never replied. A reminder had to be sent to the VC after some time. The university then called for my exam scripts and sent them for remarking. But after the remarking was done, the university didn’t communicate to me on the outcome; instead, they issued me a warning letter.

WHAT DID YOU THEN?

On September 30, 2019, I wrote a letter to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and on November 12, 2019, I wrote to the Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, calling for assistance but the ministry said it was an internal affair of the university and directed me to the VC.

On December 10, 2019, I wrote a letter to the new VC, giving him a summary of the issue and appealed to him to wade into the matter. I got a reply on January 3, 2020, but it was not on the university’s letterhead and it was not stamped.

When I approached the Register’s office with the letter, they denied that it was not from them. They asked me to write another letter. I did and submitted the letter on February 28, 2020. The university replied with a letter dated March 16, 2020, but I received it on September 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. They stated that they had investigated my case and that my class of degree remained Second Class Lower Division and that the matter was closed.

AS THINGS STAND, WHAT IS YOUR NEXT MOVE?

Nobody wants to listen to me. The search for justice has been associated with anguish, anxiety, depression and insomnia. I don’t know what it will cause me next. This thing is seriously affecting me. I have considered committing suicide; it is the thought of my parents that is stopping me. But for how long can I hold back?

WHY IS GRADUATING WITH SECOND CLASS UPPER DIVISION SO IMPORTANT TO YOU? HAS THE FACT THAT YOU SCORED OR WERE GIVEN LESSER GRADE STOPPED YOU FROM GETTING A JOB?

It is important to me to advance my career. I applied for a master’s programme in 2019 at the University of Ibadan and despite that I scored 61 when the cut-off was even 40, I was not admitted. When I did my findings, I was told that they considered Second Class Upper besides the fact that I submitted only one referee instead of three as required. But the reason I submitted only one referee was that my department refused to reference me.

A professor in the department once told me that because I was fighting lecturers for my result, I would not be able to do my master’s as none of them would reference me and my academic transcripts would not be released.

I feel really shortchanged.  I have written to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, begging him to ask the university to produce my 400 Level exam scripts. That’s all I’m asking.

Oba Adedokun Abolarin, Orangun of Oke Ila, Osun State is the humanitarian and change maker that isn’t getting the deserved accolades.

At Abolarin College in Oke-Ila, Osun State, the students there pay NO school fees; enjoy free hostel, free food, free internet, free uniform, free laptop for every child, and 24 hours power supply; and all these expenses are paid by the town’s king. What is the most shocking is that the king teaches too in the school.

What makes this school remarkable is that one major criteria for getting admitted in is being poor. If your parents are rich, you cannot get admission. Unlike other schools, Abolarin College wants poor kids who are very brilliant. If you are poor but brilliant, the king will admit you!

The king believes poor brilliant kids should also be given an equal opportunity to become something in life- so that the future does not belong only to those born with silver spoons in their mouth. The king himself has a law degree and masters in law- and he also teaches in the school.

From what we gathered, the king has only one wife. Obviously, he is not using the money of the kingdom to accumulate wives or properties; instead he is investing it in the education of future leaders while he aims to reduce the burden of illiteracy in the society. For him, it doesn’t matter the religion, it is not about nepotism, neither is it restricted to Yoruba children nor only children from Oke Ila; it is about any less privileged child anywhere who is willing to be educated. That is why the only criteria for admission is poverty and brilliance.

Many of those kids previously hawked pepper, sachet water, fruits etc. Some came from farms where all they did was work under the hot sun weeding and planting. Many are orphans, hawkers, child labourers, delinquents, children of petty traders, but now they have hope, and not just hope, a future.

Some Kings may have more money than this king, but in years to come, King Abolarin’s impact will take him to the echelons of greatness. What if we also have many Northern Sultans and Emir engaging in this? All across history, change begins with just a man! Dare to live differently, making an impact. It is what we do with money and our other resources that counts, for money has no value in itself!

This man is planting seeds that will blossom in the future. In the nearest years, that town will be filled with successful and accomplished people. I love this. God bless the King. This is one man that fully has my respect. We should celebrate such a Nigerian! This king is a legend and posterity will never forget him.

A female undergraduate is said to have fainted after learning of the death of one of her lecturers.
According to a Twitter user, @Spend0Gustav0, who shared the story, the unnamed female student fainted three times after learning of her lecturer’s death from Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
There was no explanation given as to why she fainted, but those who commented on the tweet made some assumptions.
Most people assumed she had an amorous affair with the deceased and that they had unprotected intercourse while he was alive.

MANAGEMENT CLOSES DOWN OAU, ASKS STUDENTS TO VACATE HALLS OF RESIDENCE.

On Tuesday, 28th September, 2021 ADESINA Omowumi Aishat, a 24-year old, female, Part 4 student of the Department of Foreign Languages reported to the Health Centre with signs and symptoms of a severe infection. She was promptly treated with some drugs prescribed and asked to report back as an out-patient. She reported back to the Health Centre in the morning of Thursday, 30th September, 2021. Upon examination, she was referred to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital for further management where she regrettably died on Thursday 30th September, 2021.

A release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that the Management understands the grief resulting from this untimely death within the community and sympathises with the parents, friends, colleagues and the entire students of the University on this sad loss, and prays for the repose of her soul.
However, Management condemns in strong terms the continuous and uncontrolled protests by the students culminating in unbridled brigandage, blocking the Ife/Ibadan and Ife/Ede highways and other adjoining roads that could be used as alternative routes, and engaging in other acts that are detrimental to their health and the safety of the generality of the people.
Therefore, having exhausted all necessary avenues to call the students to order and allow normalcy to return to the Campus and its environs, the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, have accordingly closed down the School until further notice. This is to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

In view of this, all students are hereby directed to vacate their halls of residence and the Campus latest by 12:00 noon on Saturday, 2nd October, 2021.
Consequently, the swearing-in of the newly elected Students’ Union officials has been put on hold, pending a review of the situation.

In the meantime, the University management has put in place the machinery to unravel the circumstances surrounding the immediate and remote cause(s) of the crisis.

Notice is hereby given to all members of the public , especially Candidates who choosed ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho for undergraduate admission that the 2021/22 post utme Application platform has been activated.
