Admission into the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is very competitive. Successful candidates within the capacity of our institution will be offered admission and required to undergo an intensive ICT Training and Orientation Programme to prepare them for life in FUNAAB.

All applicants seeking undergraduate admission into 100, 200 or 300 Levels in the FUNAAB and have chosen the University as their Most Preferred Institution with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) are hereby invited to apply online for the 2021/2022 Pre-Admission Screening Exercise.

Application Procedure

Guidelines for Online Application

1. Eligible candidates https://admission.unaab.edu.ng/2021/eligibility.php are to access the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta FUNAAB Admission Portal, https://admission.unaab.edu.ng/ click on “Apply for Admission” and enter their JAMB UTME or JAMB Direct Entry Registration Numbers to generate and print out their Application Invoice which states their Reference Number and other information on payment of a non-refundable fee of Two Thousand Naira (₦2,000.00) only, including transaction charges.
2. Candidates should proceed to any Bank accepting REMITA payment (nationwide) or Online using debit card or via Internet Banking and make payment of the prescribed fee using the REMITA Reference Number.
3. After payment, candidates are to proceed to FUNAAB Admission Portal https://admission.unaab.edu.ng/ and complete the e-application form as appropriate.
4. Application opens on Friday, 8th October, 2021 and closes on Friday, 22nd October, 2021..
5. Candidates are required to correctly input their Bio-data, O’Level results, OND/HND/NCE/A-Level/IJMB/JUPEB results (where applicable).
6. On uploading of all required details, candidates are expected to first preview and confirm the entries before clicking on Submit on the acknowledgement page. Candidates should thereafter print out the Application Form displaying their passport photograph.
7. Correction of wrongly https://admission.unaab.edu.ng/2021/correction.php entered data attracts a fee of One Thousand Naira (₦1,000) only as penalty and can be effected online not later than the closing date of the application. 8. No complaint of wrong Bio-Data, O’Level results, OND/HND/NCE/A-Level/IJMB/JUPEB results or blank picture would be entertained thereafter.
9. Candidates who up-load wrong Bio-Data, O’Level results and UTME/OND/HND/NCE/A’Level/IJMB/JUPEB results will be automatically disqualified.

NOTE:

1. DE candidates are further required to have submitted their transcript (OND/HND/NCE candidates) or Certified True Copy of Statement of Results duly stamped by Director/HOD of the institution you graduated from (A’level candidates) to the Registrar, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta not later than Friday, 22nd October, 2021.
2. Only candidates with completed application before the stipulated deadline will be considered.
3. You have the SOLE responsibility of ensuring that they meet the minimum admission requirements before making payment. If at any point it is discovered that you do NOT meet the minimum admission requirements, such offer of admission shall be withdrawn and payment made is NON-REFUNDABLE.

All Candidates of Lagos State Origin who chose Lagos State University as First Choice in the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) and scored a minimum of 190 are hereby informed that the registration for Indigeneship Verification Exercise for the 2021/2022 Admission Exercise will commence on Monday, 11th October, 2021 to close on Friday, 5th November, 2021. The Verification Interview will start on Wednesday, 20th October, 2021.

This is to inform all staff and students that the University Management has approved that First Semester 2020/2021 Examinations will commence on Monday, 1st November. 2021 as against earlier date of 18 October, 2021 circulated.

Provost/Deans, Staff and Students should therefore note this change and adjust their examination time-tables to be in line with the new date.

Note that all examinations should be concluded within a period of three (3) weeks from the date of commencement i.e. from 1st November, 2021.

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, has developed admission criteria where Niger Delta ex-militants will not necessarily write JAMB before enrolling into the institution.

According to the institution’s management, the pre-degree programme run by the institution will assist the federal government in skill acquisitions and vocational training for the ex-militants who are beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of FUTA, Amb. (Dr.) Godknows Igali, stated this when he led the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Fuwape and other top officials of the institution on a courtesy visit to the Interim Administrator of Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd).

The Special Adviser, Media to the Coordinator of the programme, Neotaobase Egbe, in a statement on Saturday, said the institution offered the school’s entrepreneurship centres with globally recognized certifications for the training of the programme’s beneficiaries.

The institution also commended the federal government for its new focus to train, mentor and employ ex-agitators in order to sustain the existing peace in the Niger Delta region.

He said that Col. Dikio’s pragmatic leadership was proof of his passion for the region and a testament to his commitment to peace, stability and development of the oil-rich Niger Delta.

He said: “Your vision to train, employ and mentor beneficiaries will bring further development and economic prosperity to the region and the nation at large.

“In line with that, in FUTA we have the capacity to train ex-agitators to become agents of change that will reverse the narrative of a people dependent on stipends, become employers of labour and contribute largely to the economic growth of the region through our centre of entrepreneurship.

We have a pre-degree programme, so they don’t have to go through the JAMB cycle.

Our programme also recognizes JAMB, so we will be able to accommodate a lot of trainees into it.”

Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Fuwape, said that the institution had the capacity and facilities to support the PAP in terms of research, manpower development programmes, innovation and technology in data management, aquaculture, fish farming, agro-business and agropreneurship, among others.

Responding, Col. Dikio, who acknowledged the importance of technology in national development, commended the management team of FUTA for the gesture and promised to set up a team to evaluate the offer and draw up a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

He said that informal education was just as important as conventional education, noting that relevant vocational and business skills could be learnt and used to transform lives and the mindsets of ex-agitators.

The registrar and chief executive officer of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Olusegun Ajiboye, has said the planned payment of N75,000 and N50,000 as bursaries per semester for students studying education programmes in Nigerian universities and colleges of education respectively, will only come with appropriate terms and conditions.

Mr Ajiboye, a professor, made the clarification on Saturday during a virtual lecture organised to commemorate the annual World Teachers’ Day. The event was organised by an online media platform that is dedicated to education reporting -Educeleb.

The guest lecturer spoke on the theme; “Cultivating Teachers’ Professionalism for Education Excellence.”

ON BURSARY

Reacting to inquiries on the modalities for the implementation of the pay package for the students, especially in the face of dwindling revenues in the country, the TRCN boss said the guidelines are currently being finalised by the national implementation committee.

He added that the implementation would not commence until 2022, and that such is not the only item on what he described as the robust welfare package being planned for the Nigerian teachers.

Mr Ajiboye, whose second term tenure of five years was recently approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, said the efforts are geared towards reclaiming the lost glory in the nation’s education sector.

He said; “Of all the items on the list, it is only the implementation of the 65-year-retirement-age that commenced in January, this year. Others are scheduled for implementation next year.

“Apart from the bursary, we also have a rural housing initiative and allowances for teachers who may be posted to remote locations, teaching practice allowances for both students and lecturers, among others.”

ON SUSTAINABILITY

The registrar, who thanked both the president and the education minister, Adamu Adamu, for what he described as their strong support for revitalisation of Nigeria’s education sector, and teaching profession in particular, said Nigerians need not nurse any fear about sustainability.

He said apart from currently working on the terms and conditions to be attached to some of the welfare packages, the government is also considering putting in place appropriate laws and regulations to avoid policy summersaults.

“We are aware that one of the major challenges governance faces in Nigeria is policy summersaults. So we are working towards ensuring that relevant laws are passed by the legislators towards ensuring their permanence.

“And apart from that, some of these packages will be enjoyed by only those who satisfy some specific terms and conditions. And we have already concluded that some of the packages will be directly handled by existing funding parastatals like the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund),” the registrar added.’

Mr Ajiboye added that education was too important to be neglected, saying some of the initiatives of his agency towards professionalising teaching in Nigeria including the mandatory qualifying examination, mandatory continuing professional development programme (MCPDP), and partnerships with relevant global, regional and national agencies are already yielding rewarding fruits.

He said; “Today, if you carry TRCN certificates and licence you are qualified to teach anywhere in the world. I can assure you that this year alone, I have signed not less than 40 letters of good standing for Nigerian teachers who relocated to Canada to work as teachers.

“Today, because of 65-year-retirement-age, some civil servants are already seeking conversion to teaching careers, claiming they have a background in education. They should know that terms and conditions apply.”

He added that where the government is driving the teaching profession in the country is to make it highly competitive and very rewarding, saying it is the mother of all professions.

“It is sad that Nigerian teachers resign in droves and take up even some highly degrading jobs. That is unacceptable, and we will reclaim the lost glory. We must emulate Germany’s former leader, Angela Merkel who insisted she could not pay other professionals higher than teachers because they were taught by the teachers,” he said.

BACKSTORY

The education minister, Adamu Adamu, had on October 5 announced the planned payment of N75,000 per semester for every student of public universities studying education programmes.

Similarly, students of colleges of education are also billed to receive N50,000 per semester.

Mr Adamu, who made the disclosure in Abuja during the commemoration of 2021 annual World Teachers’ Day, was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sonny Echonu.

He said the package was aimed at promoting quality education in the country, and urged the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital territory to support the federal government’s efforts.

However, since the announcement on Tuesday, many Nigerians have queried the sincerity of the government and the sustainability of the initiative.

In a recent publication made by the Authorities of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), the physical attendance for the 36th Convocation ceremony will be limited only to the first class graduates, prize winners and Doctorate Awardees only. Hence, entry will be strictly by invitation cards

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

1. The minimum entry requirements for admission into Christopher University are credit level passes in 5 subjects at the SSCE/GCE/O-Level/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings.
2. The subjects passed, must include ENGLISH LANGUAGE and MATHEMATICS. Candidates are also to note that there are special requirements for various schools and departments.

JAMB PREREQUISITES 

1. Candidates applying to Christopher University are required to sit for the 2021/2022 UTME of the Joint Admissions & Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off mark. This is a statutory requirement for admission into Nigerian Universities.
2. All applicants are strongly advised to ensure that their UTME subject combination qualifies them for their chosen programmes.

MODE OF APPLICATION

3. If you have fulfilled the requirements above then visit any of our designated bank branches and pay the application fee of N 10,000.00 to Christopher University.
4. Then come to the University with proof of the payment above and also with copies of your UTME result, O ‘level result (SSCE/GCE/O-Level/NECO/NABTEB not more than two sittings), birth certificate and three passport photographs.
