The tenure of the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, will end tomorrow.

The tenures of 13 other agencies and corporations under the Federal Ministry of Education will also lapse on the same day.

The heads of the agencies will stop reporting for duty as from today, being the last day of work, after serving for four to five years. The affected officials are eligible for reappointment for a second term as may be deemed fit by President Muhammadu Buhari.

But there was no official announcement or statement on their fate last night.

Other Education sector’s chief executives whose positions would be vacant include Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC); Dr. Hameed Boboyi, ExecutiveSecretary, Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC); Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB).

Others are: Prof. Sunday Ajiboye, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN); Afolabi Aderinto, Computer Registration Council of Nigeria (CRCN); Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare, National Teachers Institute (NTI); and Prof. Michael Afolabi, Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).

Also affected are: Prof. Steven Ejugwu Onah, National Mathematical Centre, Shedda; Prof. Chinyere Ohiri-Aniche, National Institute of Nigerian Languages; Prof. Lillian Salami, Nigerian Institute for Educational Planning and administration; Prof. Lanre Aina, National Library of Nigeria; Prof. Abba Haladu, National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education and Prof. Bashir Usman, Nomadic Education Commission.

The chief executives were appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on August 1, 2016. They were sworn in by Education Minister Adamu Adamu on August 2, 2016 at the auditorium of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Ahead of the 37th Convocation ceremony, The Management of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is set to publish and upload the graduation list.

CAMPUS INFO gathered that several meetings have been held which include Faculties and Business Committee Of Senate and Senate Sittings. The list is awaiting one or two more meeting sitting before release.

The Management of the University is to set up planning committee ahead of the 37th convocation. The meeting is scheduled to hold today, Friday 30th July 2021.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cleared and released the UTME results of 14,620 candidates which was held for investigation , while withholding the results of 93 other candidates.

Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB Head, Media and Publicity, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, on Tuesday, said the results were released, following the consideration and approval of the recommendations of the investigators, by a management meeting held on Tuesday.

He said ;

“You will recall that the board, in its earlier release, stated that it will still review the results of the 2021 UTME exercise and any candidate found wanting will have his/her result withheld.

“Out of the withheld results, 13 were discovered to have been involved in examination infractions after they were released and the one earlier withdrawn bringing the total of the results that have been withdrawn to 14.

According to the board, the names of candidates whose result were withdrawn include.

Esther Chukwuemeka, the youngest Nigerian lawyer following reports she was called to bar at age 20, has reacted to set the records straight in a video shared online.

In the video, She denied claims that she graduated from secondary school at 13 and was called to bar at 20. She said the report was an error made by a person who put out a congratulatory message to celebrate her.

She added that she graduated from secondary school at the age of 15 and went to study Law in India at 17 after ABSU gave her Political Science, instead of the Law she wanted. She explained that she spent 5 years studying Law in India before returning to Nigeria for Law School.
